This weekend I decided to finally start building my first professional puppet, with a bit of help from a book and my own imagination. I will make a webpage with all the photos of making it, it isnt quite complete yet but since it was only a block of foam on Saturday morning its come quite far, its my first attempt ever so I am quite happy with it, I will need lots more practice.
I have posted a photo on my server of the head of the puppet which is the only part almost complete, I wanted to know what you guys think of my first attempt.
Click here for the pic http://www.muppetsdownunder.com/images/misc/puppet.jpg

I was happy with this because I was feeling very down last week so I have created something out of my unhappiness.
Hope you like it, from Paul

Glad you guessed it was a lion. I would like to go and see the lion king, I love musicals and especially ones with puppets in. I'm not a huge fan of the lion king or that type of thing but I would still like to go. I'm not sure if I will though.

Conserning the Lion King...

GO.

I'm serious. The show is ALL puppets, and the visual affects of them are amazing!

I own a prop bird from the show, in NYC. Even on one of the littlest prop of the show, the craftmenship is amazing. The silk, everything!

Check this place, for picuture from the show (The NYC production) but the show is most likely the same.

Go see it, it's worth everything.

Love it. U r doing a great idea. I can't wait to start when I'm ready but until I get a pretty good book I won't know what to do. I know I should of looked up Puppet books when I went to the Libreay today but didn't think of it. Maybe next time. Keep up the good work.

Sorry you are having trouble viewing the puppet, dont worry though because I will be posting a page with all the images soon. You could try it again, maybe the server was having a problem.

By the way, I love your site, are you a professional puppeteer and puppet buildier, thats a dream of mine but I dont know if it will come true. Theres a chance I could become a puppeteer and/or puppet builder but I doubt It could be full time, thats what I have heard from many puppeteers etc.

Thanks to everyone with all the nice comments about the puppet.
