Extremely obscure skits

Does anyone else remember two bizarre Sesame skits shot on film about "yes" and "no" that involved an outside scene with a lady and a gorilla (person in costume). The one about "no" was particularly strange and ended with the lady dragging the gorilla along the street while he yelled (in a gorilla like voice) "NO! NO! NO! NO!" Does this ring a bell for anyone?

yeak i recall it. though the film was probably from the early years of the show, looked like they mighjt of been pretending this was way back in the 20s or 30s.

Probably around 1974. For the Yes skit, the gorilla sees the girl (looks a lot like Bernadette Peters, but don't quote me). She's sitting on a park bench, and he keeps offering bananas from his lunch box. The musical accompaniment was "The Entertainer", which was a big hit at the time.

For "No", the gorilla chases the girl for a while while she screams "No!" in panic. Then she has enough of this running around and yells "No!" in his face, meaning "You ain't gonna push me around anymore, you big lummox!"

The scene ends with her dragging him away by his feet, and he's yelling "No!"

Thanks. This board has been great and it's really surprised me that other people also remember these "long lost skits". I've gotten feedback on old memories that I had thought everyone else had forgotten. One of the few memories that no one has yet seemed to recall was the animated pitcher in an agua sketch made in Spanish. Very old from early 70's. Anyone? Anyone?

I don't remember that one, but I do remember one like it. It was a bilingual cartoon of a guy crawling on his hands and knees in a desert looking for some "agua". He eventually comes to a guy who has some water, who offers him some. He says "Gracias", takes the glass of water and pours it on his hands. Enraged, the guy asks him in English "Why did you pour the agua on your hand!?" He responds something in Spanish, and pulls out a sandwich and starts to eat it -- he only wanted it to wash his hands.

I just thought of the gorilla chasing the lady sketch and searched for it in the forum in case it was brought up before. And here it is, in a thread by GeeBee. I agree these two gorilla skits were pretty bizarre. And I think fuzzygobo is right that they were probably made in 1974 since one had "The Entertainer" song from "The Sting" , a 1973 movie. (And I see what mikebennidict means about SS possibly trying to give them a 20's or 30's setting. That blonde lady (who fuzzygobo said looked like Bernadette Peters, which I can see too) reminded me of the lady who frequently appeared in "The Little Rascals" and "Laurel and Hardy" shorts from the 30's).
The "no" one I remember the clearest. I think the lady was singing andlooking at pretty flowers (maybe in a park? I remember a lot of trees around.) and then sees the gorilla and screams in fear, "No!" The gorilla chases her around and growls while she keeps yelling, "No!" Then she starts to say "No" in a less scared way. Then she says "No" real matter of factly. Then she stops running and glares at the gorilla and firmly says, "No!" The gorilla stops in his tracks and makes a noise in surprise and a little fear. She shouts even more firmly, "No!!" Then the next scene we hear her singing, "La de dee dee da..." and then see her pulling the gorilla with a rope as he drags along the ground on his back saying (pleadingly and desperately) "No! No! No!"
And yes, GeeBee, this is indeed so cool and fascinating to see others with such vivid memories of these and other 70's SS sketches!

that last part of the film confused and sort of bothered me for some reason. now i could of sworn she was just dragging him with her arms with no rope. but maybe i'm wrong. i couldn't understand why later on she wanted the gorilla and he didn't want to be around her and i guess it was intiminating to see her grag him with her against his will. some of the things done on SS were not always understandable.

You could be right, mike. Maybe there was no rope and she just had him by one of his feet. My best recollection had the gorilla a little farther away from her hand then if she held him directly. Plus, it seems like the gorilla would be more subdued if tied up a little. (But then again, that could have been a humorous aspect of the skit - - - A gorilla getting manhandled by a lady). I'm very interested to see what others like fuzzygobo, Sesame Mike, Xerus, and GeeBee recall about there being a rope or not.
And yeah, I kind of felt sorry for the gorilla at the end too. Would have made me feel better if they just had the gorilla turn and run from the woman and shouting in fear, "No! No! No!" instead of being dragged on the ground.
