Hello,
My name is Mary Kate and I am one of the founding members of Sea Beast Puppet Company. Currently we are seeking some additional help building and performing our new and touring shows. Here at Sea Beast, everyone aids in the build and performance of our shows and is paid per performance. We have been open for over a year now and in that time have developed three shows and performed at numerous libraries, the Illinois Storytelling Festival, The Puppeteers of America Great Lakes Regional Potlatch Festival, and the Port City Puppet Festival. You do not need to be a professional puppeteer, actor or carpenter to join our crew, but here is a list of items to look at before you decide to get in contact:

1) Location- We work out of our studio space in Glen Ellyn, so anyone who wants to work with us needs to have a car or be comfortable on the train. Our evening rehearsals usually get out around 10pm and there is a station close by our studio.

2) Time- Though we are very flexible about the amount of time our members put in, they do need to commit to be a part of a project on a level we mutually agree on. We put a lot of time into structuring our rehearsals so there is work for everyone to do that they are able to complete.

3) Skills- We do not require that our members be experienced puppeteers and we are happy to teach skills as we go. But we are a professional company so completing our projects is our number one goal, so a basic level of artistic experience is required. We need people to be comfortable using basic tools such as hot glue guns, exacto knives, screw guns, saws (table, chop, hack, etc…), basic sewing skills, etc… Everyone here at Sea Beast helps out in all aspects so you don’t need all of these skills but the more you know the better off you’ll be. Also, since company members are paid per performance you will need to be comfortable performing. You don't need to have tons of experience, but you do need to have the confidence to play with the puppets and text in front of the company members as well as improvise if needed. Mostly we need people who are willing to take on a task and ask questions if they don’t know something. We are always happy to answer questions.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in being a part of, please contact us at seabeastpuppetrymk@gmail.com, we would love to have you. You can also check out our website at www.seabeastpuppetry.com

Sincerely,
Mary Kate
