Hi Everyone!!

Was just reading Animation Magazine Online, who announced a few new Sesame Workshop distribution deals, including Channel 5, who will be adding the 'Elmo's World' segment to it's line up in December. Whilst full Sesame episodes would have been amazing, it's great that Sesame characters will have a home on terrestrial television again!!!

Here's the full article.... (with a few 'international Sesame announcements for Warrick!! )

10/21/02 Sesame Workshop Hammers Out International Deals

Following a successful MIPCOM showing, nonprofit educational organization Sesame Workshop continues to extend its programming to major broadcasters around the world.

Sesame Street will return to Taiwan after an absence of more than a decade. YOYO Channel, Eastern Television’s children’s channel, will begin a three-year run of Sesame Workshop programming including a fall launch of Emmy winners Sesame Street and Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat.

Sesame Workshop celebrates its 30th anniversary in Mexico with the renewal of Plaza Sesamo, a co-production with Televisa. The new season launches April 2003.

Elmo’s World will debut on U.K.’s Channel 5 this Dec. It will also show up on Italy’s RAI beginning first quarter 2003.

In addition, Sesame Workshop announced plans to team with Brazil’s Canal Futura to co-produce an updated version of Vila Sésamo, the first Sesame Street international co-production, which premiered in 1972. The new series will introduce Muppet characters developed specifically for Brazil and will air as a daily strip on Canal Futura in spring 2004. Canal Futura also licensed season two of Sesame Workshop’s animated fantasy adventure Dragon Tales.

Yeah! I've seen pictures of Villa Sesamo on Warrick's site! The puppets didn't even LOOK like Muppets! They resembled cheap versions of Sid and Morty Krofft show puppetry.

But what changes will they make for Plaza Sesamo? Will it air in the US? Will Pancho, Lola, Abelardo and the rest be tossed out on their collective nalgas? ANd what will the Taiwanese version be?

Tune in Next time for The Sesame Streak, or, Bilingual Bedlam.... All these years of Bullwinkle cartoons...really!
