    Heat/Hot-Air Gun?

    A hairdryer / heatgun is often used with contact adhesive when gluing the foam, etc. It speeds the setting-up time, and also helps if you want to unglue the foam if misaligned. Theres a bit in the '60s 'Muppets on Puppets' where Don Sahlin mentions it.
