Hey thanks! I'll be adding smaller updates in the coming weeks, including some new graphics. There's also a Gelfling College newsletter in the works; anyone who signs up before July 15th is eligible to win a set of the Ripple Junction Dark Crystal stickers...
Gee ... what's un-muppety about Hot Topic and the way the employees dress?
Muppets are punk rock. Remember: "He's a rebel L ... he goes "La La La" from Sesame Street?
And Animal ... he wears a studded punk-rock collar! Heck, I'm sure the Electric Mayhem would respect non-conformity.
As a kid, there were three Muppety things that made me cry:
1.) The Sesame Street Christmas special where Ernie sold his duckie to buy Bert a Christmas present (and vice vera). Mr. Hooper saved the day.
2.) "Saying Goodbye."
3.) "The Gambler" ... yeah, I remember crying like a baby...
You're not wrong. The 'World of the Dark Crystal" book says that skekTek and urTih's joined form is named "TekTih." It looks like the 'Skeksis' name comes first.
Still truckin'
I just added two rather lengthy chapters to Gelfling College ... each brimming with new illustrations.

The chapters include new Skeksis stories and other fun.
Also, several new graphics were added to other pages on...
The DVD is so cheap new and used, there's no reason to pass it up.
Trust me: no video has come close to capturing Dark Crystal's theatrical glory. Seriously, even when I was a kid and didn't quite understand full-screen formatting, I complained that "the video didn't look as nice" as it was...
I saw Song of the South in a Drive-In movie theater!!
I loved it as a kid! I had a bunch of tie-in books and a record set (I read the actual book sometime in gradeschool). I also remember thinking that the animation in the film itself was especially good.
I'd love to see it again...
It might sound tacky, but I'm really proud of what his kids did here. I always hoped they'd buy back the company.
I also hope that we keep seeing the Muppets like we have lately. Oh sure, it's just merchandising, but I've loved the Muppet gear that's been hitting shelves lately.
Just an...
I agree with your last statement, Frogboy. Talking about this stuff is what's important. The real reason I brought this up was simply to remind folks that free speech is an ongoing battle even here. We're still defining its boundaries ourselves, and sometimes people get a little nutty or too...
Well, just because I'm home with an impacted wisdom tooth, I dragged up a book that reprinted the comic that was used in the trial. It depicts a giant grasshopper maiming a boy ... it's actually not sexual. Oh, it's gross ... nothing I'd buy.
I know when he got in trouble the second time, it...
That's not true anymore. That act was tossed out last April, and it was not law while the Mike Diana case was going down. Art is now protected again while actual photographic depictions are not.
Here's one link:

And allow me to correct myself -- it did go to the Supreme Court ... apparently in 1997, which not coincidentally, is when I stopped working in comic books.
I'm not going to post this other link because it's not suitable for...
The Mike Diana case was sheer insanity. He drew these kind of scribbly comix and photocopied them a la zine/ashcan. The only place carrying the comix was a local store in his Floridian hometown.
We're talking about a zine that *maybe* sold fifty copies per issue. A hundred tops.
The comix...
Let me just say right off the top: this is THE VERY LAST thread I wanted to post in. I lurk at MC more than post, but the topic unanimously brings out the worst in just about everyone, and that's not very muppety.
However, you're talking about a cartoonist who was thrown in jail in another...
