SPECIAL GUEST STAR: LENNY KRAVITZ
OPENING THEME
Kermit reveals that because Floyd beat him in a game of Go Fish, he's letting the Electric Mayhem plan the whole show tonight. Naturally, the Mayhem book any rock acts they can find (usually from a few "Street"s away.)
OPENING NUMBER...
Susan has made another one of her rare appearances! She's in the new Elmo's World video about the upcoming holiday season. There's a pic of her, Gordon (Roscoe Orman) and Miles (Imani Patterson) in traditional African attire on the back of the box. They're in the special to discuss Kwanzaa.
I...
SPECIAL GUEST: TOPOL
(For those who don't know, Chaim Topol is the actor who played Tevye in the film version of Fiddler On THe Roof. He's also performed him in London and various other locations. I figured since they had Zero Mostel, who originated the role on Broadway, on the show, they...
SPECIAL GUEST STAR: JIMMY BUFFETT
OPENING THEME
OPENING NUMBER: Annie Sue sings "Tom, Dick or Harry" with the three-headed monster of the same names.
Statler: "I've heard about getting ahead in life, but that was just ridiculous!"
Both: "Dohhhh, ho ho ho..."
BACKSTAGE: Kermit...
Phillip...
I did know that Joe Raposo composed both songs. And while we're on the subject, is it me or does "Together Again" from MTM sound like "You're My Beautiful Baby" from SS (this song was played as footage of babies was shown)? I know Jeff Moss composed "Together Again".
Did you get...
I thought of some others...
TMS (sort of) --> SS
"I'm Gonna Always Love You" (from MTM), as sung by Prairie Dawn to Farley, also with Betty Lou, Roosevelt Franklin, Hard Head Henry Harris, Smart Tina, and Rusty
"Can You Picture That?", as sung by Hoots, Chrissy, Little Jerry, Zoe, and...
I liked the music from "The Muppet Movie" a bit more though. "Can You Picture That?" is my favorite...I'm trying to memorize Floyd's parts for that, since he is one of my favorite Muppets.
GMC also has great music, I'm bummed out that "Night Life" didn't make it on the recent TMS 25th...
Forgot one more--if you watch the Fraggle Rock episode "Wembley and the Great Race", listen to the World's Oldest Fraggle's commentary during the races. It's hilarious. Favorite lines are:
(when Wembley wins the first race)
"And the winner is...WHAT'S-HIS-NAME!"
(and during the final...
I thought of some more that would work...
TMS-->SS
"Jamboree" as sung by Big Bird
"Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear" as sung by Farley and Baby Bear
"Sax and Violence" as performed by Hoots with Don Music
"Eight Little Notes" as sung by the Count
SS-->TMS
"Just Happy To Be...
Correction--MOKEY owned that plant. I don't think Red would ever lay claim to it.
Lanford's actual species is a night-blooming, yellow-leafed deathwort. I thought he looked like a very sickly Audrey II (from LSoH). However, Lanford doesn't eat blood, although he does seem to be out for Red's...
Some of my favorite funny Muppet moments:
Anything uttered by Statler and Waldorf.
Gonzo performing Mozart on a bagpipe (while on top of a flagpole)...where a beaver chews on the bottom and knocks him down.
Kermit trying to have a nice quiet conversation with Julie Andrews, interrupted...
SPECIAL GUEST STAR: BETTY BUCKLEY
COLD OPENING--
Scooter: "Betty Buckley, 15 seconds to curtain, Ms. Buckley!"
(close-up on Betty's face)
Betty: "Thanks, Scooter. Now, there's one thing I do need to address. I know I was on a show called Eight Is Enough..."
Scooter: "Yeah, we all...
Let's see, here's what I've come up with:
"You Made Me Love You" (George Burns and Muppets on TMS, Cookie Monster on SS)
"Sesame Street Theme" (sung daily on SS--duh!, sung by Bert, Ernie, Count, Cookie, Grover, Prairie Dawn, and two Anything Muppets on TMS)
"Consider Yourself" (sung by...
Don Music was retired for similar reasons. Apparently too many kids were emulating his habit of banging his head against his piano keyboard. It's a shame...Don truly was a terrific character. I wish they had moved him to "The Muppet Show"...he would've worked great with Kermit and Rowlf in...
Sorry to disappoint you. Farley is green with brown hair and a yellow shirt. Jerry Nelson performed him too. (I think the same Anything Muppet was used for Sherlock Hemlock.) The last time I saw Farley on SS was in the late 80's (or even 1990) singing the song "Forty Blocks From My Home".
(Also from the Paul Simon episode)
Statler: Brrrr. It's freezing in here. Waldorf when you
come back can you give me my coat?
(Waldorf brings Statler a goat)
This joke was recycled from a live-action segment on "Sesame Street". In the segment, David is stranded on a desert island, rubs a...
SPECIAL GUEST STAR: DICK VAN DYKE
COLD OPENING:
Scooter: "Dick Van Dyke, 15 seconds to curtain, Mr. Van Dyke!"
Dick: (getting dressed) "Thanks, Scooter. You guys really know how to make me feel at home, but there is one thing. Kermit and I never discussed my appearance fee."
Scooter...
My favorites...
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" as sung by John Denver and Rowlf
"The Peace Carol" as sung by John Denver & Scooter
"Little St. Nick" as sung by the Electric Mayhem
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" as sung by Cookie Monster, Hard Head Henry Harris, Prairie...
Forgot a few more:
Johnny Fiamma and his "Ma"
Emmett and Ma Otter
Hattie and Charlie Muskrat (also from EOJBC)
There was also a family of squirrels in the "Emmet Otter" talent contest doing a gymnastic act of some sort...their mother can be seen gushing over them in the audience after...
