Overall, with anything muppets, it's hard to pick a favorite. But, as far as the first season, I thought the Ben Vereen episode was just, dynamite.
::explosion::
I thought it was funny and almost ironic that in the Ben Vereen episode, there is a reference to Al Jolson. If you haven't seen "The Jazz Singer" (the first "talkie"), you won't catch it. In "Mr. Cellophane", Ben gets down on his knees and imitates him from the song "Mammy". Did anyone else...
Is it just me, or is it really hard to find any variety of muppet posters anymore? All I seem to be able to find are a few of the moives, muppets in black, and one of most of the muppet show cast. Anyone know of a good place to find any (besides ebay)?
I do rather dislike the raunchy air that some of the humor takes in the made for tv stuff (like, the nipples comment on Oz, I felt that was rather unneccessary). The muppets have always been clean, family friendly comedy, and then they go and throw that stuff in. That irks me.
I do love the parody posters (the Jaws parody, Schnozz, with Gonzo instead of the shark, and miss piggy instead of the woman swimming, particularly comes to mind)...the art parodies are good as well. Is it still possible to find any of that stuff as posters?
My thoughts exactly, spc...with the exception of perhaps where the humor comes from, why does it matter? It could come from Mars for all that it's worth; if I watch it here and I like it, what does it matter (aside from the fact that, as far as earthbound science is concerned, there is no life...
After seeing Season one, I've grown to love Thog. It's sad to hear that he was in all probability scrapped. I'm not sure how I'd feel about a CGI version...I love the full body muppets.
I'm diggin' this. Especially since it's something else to do besides homework on an all nighter.
I think what you could use for this would be a good editor. Maybe that's what you meant when you said the person who figures out where cookie monster went could help.
This might make a dandy...
How is it exploitation? That's half of how Jim Henson got his career started was making commercials. (Wilkins' Tea, Wilkins' Coffee, LaChoy Chow Mein, Purina Dog Food...)
I'm not saying that you're thinking like their real or whatever else, but I'm reminded of some lines from theme song of another show that used puppets, Mystery Science Theater 3000:
"If you're wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts,
Just repeat to yourself 'It's just a show...
Holy Moly. Great stuff. (this seems to almost be the "darling/gush" topic) By the way, I like how you have done both the original Sam n' friends Kermit and the later Kermit. It's just a nice touch.
Yeah, I just now finally found the DVD's I was talking about...I was wrong on price and how much was on them...:o I feel stupid now, but that happens to me on a regular basis anyways :)
These still may be a good source of some uncut material, though.
(I found 'em on DVDCraze)
It seems to be common knowledge that there was quite a bit cut from the new release of season one of the Muppet Show. (Stupid Disney: as if I needed new reasons to hate them.) What I'm wondering is about the previous DVD release of the whole show on...Time Life, was it? I seem to recall seeing...
New as of today...
Hey, just introducing myself, as I suppose it customary. I'm Tim, been a muppet fan since I was just a little kid. The muppets are responsible for my being a musician...If I had not seen the campfire scene in the Muppet Movie, where Fozzie picks up a ukelele (I thought it was...
