OK, this was a live action scene. 2 of the adult characters (I think David and Maria) enter a room with a ramp against one wall (with a doggy door type flap at the top) and a chalkboard. I'm not sure about what was supposed to happen, but I remember Maria gives David some instructions about...
That's the one I was thinking of, Ziffel! Nice work to you, fuzzygobo and SesameMike for jogging the memory. It came flooding back to me in an instant.
I think I know the one you're talking about, and, for the record it's NOT, I repeat NOT "It Takes a lot of Little Nuts (to Make a Jar of Peanut Butter)". I remember it because when you saw the jars being filled, the music went into kind of a carousel music motif. Interesting film to say the least!
You know which one I just remembered? The film of the clowns outside the circus tent! The car pulls up to your standard fare crazy music, and the clowns come out one by one counting off, each in his own funny voice. IIRC the car was a Gremlin!
My favorite part of the show involved Roy's movie machine. Remember that? He usually took it out of his pocket after the first break, and we'd see a short cartoon/film segment. My favorite toons were the "La Linea" series that came out of Italy. I never knew they were called "La Linea", but...
I've been saying this on a lot of message boards devoted to nostalgia, and I'll say it here, too. My happiest memories in my middle school and high school years involved me watching Peter at work. First there was HIT MAN, which I wasn't sure I'd like until I saw the premiere episode. I was...
RI is well represented in this thread, I must say, because, yes, I'm from RI, too! I keep checking COX IN DEMAND's FreeZone for ANY sign of Classic Sesame Street, but so far, no luck whatsoever. Yeah, I found it MORE than coincidental that Noggin was added to the lineup after the good stuff...
When I was really little, I remember that WGBH would have a photo slide on the screen for MET (Massachusetts Educational Television), and in the background, they'd play the instrumental hit "Classical Gas". To this day, whenever I hear that song, I picture myself in front of the old TV waiting...
Jonathan Pryce has taken over the role of Jamieson, and from what I hear, he's doing very well with it. Norbert is with the show until July I think. He's signed a deal for a sitcom on CBS, which starts taping I guess right after. I think Sherie Renee Scott has also played her final...
Love, absolutely LOVE Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! I saw it in NYC in November, while John Lithgow was still with the cast. He was just great as Jamieson, but I can easily see why Norbert Leo Butz won the Tony. The "Ruprecht" scene had me almost falling out of my seat! And the music...
I've not been banned yet. I'm a proud member of this board, talkinbroadway.com's All That Chat, golden-road.net, and I recently joined retrojunk.com. I try (note I say TRY) to maintain a certain level of self-respect and dignity. And unless I say something INCREDIBLY stupid, I plan on...
Now there's something else I didn't realize about this cartoon...the narrator was a woman. I think it was her giggling mixed in with the music at the end that used to weird me out a little when I was a toddler.
Oh, yes it did! You'll find Grover at Vi's diner on the first episode of Disc 4! It is a great scene with Grover , Vi and J. Arthur Crank. Crank actually shows a soft side with Grover. God, I love these DVD's!:D
Here's my (extensive) list:
Miss Saigon
Phantom of the Opera
Victor/Victoria
Jekyll and Hyde
Rent
Ragtime
Lion King
Seussical (which was better than the internet message boards wanted you to think)
Mamma Mia
The Producers
Hairspray
Avenue Q
Wicked
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (amazing...
Forget what I said about why they used that cue on DANGER MOUSE, I watched the complete "Bad Luck Eye" episode, and you'll never guess which cue I had to endure when DM was trying to give the gem back to the natives, but here's a clue:
Snare drum roll, popping sounds, slide whistle intro...
That is a GREAT song! You know, that was always the great thing about this show. The original music never seemed to be dumbed down, unless Joe Raposo was in a particularly silly mood, and even then there were complexities in the silliness Thanks for letting us hear it again!
Actually what happens at the end is Oscar and Ernie get into a tennis-match style argument as to which duckie is pretty and which one is ugly. As you might expect, our favorite resident composer has a crazy chase riff to go along with the back and forth exchange. Truthfully, I NEVER liked this...
