Hate to double post but Cory Edwards had some news we missed:
Oh, sure, now the Weinsteins jump ship. Looks like the bombing of Hoodwinked Too had nothing to do with the let off.
Well, they cared more on Wes Craven Phones it It, and they can go ahead with Robert Rodriguez Runs Out of Ideas...
I've decided to do a thread covering this film, since well, it was another killer for theatrical muppet films in general.
Having Henson to do another Sesame Street movie was a no brainier. They still owned the SST Muppets and Sony still was having a field day with SST videos and audios. Also...
I'm not sure if the poor performance of Hoodwinked Too will get the Weinslimes off the Fraggle film, but I'm sensing it will.
Oh, and they are finding an excuse to cook up Scr5am.
I don't think Universal would be a good choice for the Fraggle movie. You'd have a better chance if Lionsgate did it.
BTW, I found out that You Know Who pulled the release date of Apollo 18 back to this year, as a late summer blockbuster. :attitude:
Henson is making Power of the Dark Crystal an ambitious project, and too much of one.
Now, this is the second time we had a director fallout (Personally, I didn't think the Spierigs brothers could pull the sequel off anyways). Judging by this, and the ridiculously slow status, I don't expect...
I believe Columbia's the culprit to blame.
I remember watching a preview on one Columbia-TriStar VHS from late 1998, which gave teasers for both Muppets from Space and Elmo in Grouchland. From there, I suspected that the studio was wanting these two films to be big hits, but that didn't...
Calm down now.
Consider this, this is a very ambitious project. A mixture of live-action puppetry combined with combined with visual effects filmed in stereoscopic 3D. That takes a really long time to produce.
Also, Omnilab Media, the company that's co-producing this film is an up and coming...
That does seem to be the reason why the Weinsteins wanted to make the film edgy. (The plot of the Fraggle movie was revealed in May 12, 2008. Sony bought the film rights to the Smurfs in June, a month later.)
Looking back at their first project with JHC, the Unstable Fables films, they were...
Now I'm asking myself why did Henson choose the Weinsteins as the distributor in the first place.
For one thing, Weinstein has shown very little interest in the film, and when they were interested they didn't get the Fraggles but wanted edginess.
Another thing, a good chunk of their films...
A very good question.
Really, I think Jim had certain projects/properties intended for different companies. (See, Playhouse had Muppet Show compilations, Kids Klassics had the Muppet Babies storybooks, Lorimar had the Play-Along Videos, and Disney had four specials).
The planned Disney deal...
As Muppet fans are nervously awaiting promotion for the upcoming Muppet film, it's time to see why it's taken a decade for the Muppets to return to the silver screen. And what better way to do so is by looking back at the cinematic mess of 1999's Muppets from Space.
When the short lived Jim...
I remember playing Muppets Inside, but that was a long time ago (I think it was the late 1990's).
I last saw a copy at my cousins house, but their computer couldn't install it. :(
