Wow...just reread that article ( http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Similarities_between_It%27s_a_Very_Merry_Muppet_Christmas_Movie_and_The_Muppets )
That cannot be a mere coincidence of how similar the two movies are. It's almost like a remake of some sort. Did Segel and Stoler ever see VMX? Maybe...
Thanks for the wikia article! Wow they got pretty indepth there. Always grateful for that site.
Well it's funny, EVERYONE loved VMX when it aired in 2002, many calling it the Muppet event we had been waiting for. Now in retrospect it gets downed on in a similar way to MFS and KSY(tho I take it...
Yeah just bad timing for the Muppets movie, since all the articles point toward the historically abysmal box office showings for thanksgiving through new years.
On the plus side, noone could have predicted the INSANE positive reviews and word of mouth it would get...just, that didn't at all...
Other than MFC(a tradition of seeing it over Christmas for my family and I that goes back to the 1988 airing on ABC :) ) , Letters to Santa, the other holiday Muppet dvd I bust out is It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, affectionately titled "VMX" by hardcore fans.
I initially praised...
Oh I like him way better than Kimmel. Kimmel has moments where he comes off as smug or smarmy. Something about Ferguson too. I loved Fallon on SNL, but I became intrigued with him as a late night tv host a few years ago. He was going on and on about Mega man and old school games, then I noticed...
Well to me, when it comes to insanely mismanaged Disney wise, it's been the utter lack of Muppet movie merch. People point to random wallmart Muppet branded hair ties, rubber bands, baseball caps and snuggies and say "omg, there's tons of merch, what are you talking about?" But other than Walter...
I took a picture of my local 99 cent store...massive wall of James Cameron Avatar and Terminator Salvation figures...I think kids were more interested in the hazardous toxic
mexican power ranger and wrestling figure bootleg toys.
What idiot parent would pay $10 for a super dinky piece of dookie...
I saw that, about all those Christian churches being blown up and people killed in Nigeria. So much hate in this world.
In some "Christian" Carribean and many "Christian" African nations, gay/lesbian/transgendered people are routinely chased down and massacred, or rounded up by the government...
For anyone who has ever read George Orwell's 1984, Osama bin Laden is more like the Emmanuel Goldstein character from the book. In fact it's scary how much 1984 translates to things that have been going on since 2001.
*raises hands* ;)
Every democrat, right winger ,conservative points at bin...
Like the James Cameron Avatar and Terminator Salvation figures, I expect these once $10 figures of Tron Legacy to begin flooding the dollar stores soon.
I disagree. Disney way overcharges. MFS and TMTM have long been $5 dvds under Sony. Under Disney they'd continue their tradition of ripping off parents in this struggling economy by charging $20 or more for dvds(not even blu ray)
Also I really do not care for the Disney rerelease of The Muppet...
Jimmy Fallon seems like such a warm, genuinely cool person. And above any celeb/talk show person, he seems like a giddy kid when talking about or around cool stuff. Like his enthusiasm feels genuine. He is always having on the newest underground/up and coming indie bands, actors/actresses...and...
Whoah, I didn't know Steve Whitmire knows fluent Spanish? ;)
But seriously, wow...so Latin Disney teaches kids how to be creative and do art....American Disney teaches kids how to be mindless consumer zombies.
AWESOME! Wish there were subtitles, as this is amazing stuff.
Wait, are you referring to the 1998 official vhs release? I think thats the same edit as the 2001 dvd? I'd have to check. But yeah I rarely have a Christmas without seeing it^_^
One of my favorite lines, next to the icy patch running gag. To this day I still use the freeze your winnebego off line
The full uncut version in nice dvd quality: http://torcache.net/torrent/2D97EB54843A1E06E6A89609DF5F52E33D87703F.torrent
This will never be released, ever, in its full original 1987 broadcast form so torrent or cruddy old vhs from the time of broadcast is going to be the way to go. I own the...
I don't know if it's the look of the thing, the chemistry between Pepe and Rizzo(both MIA in the new film), or just the overall feel...but upon seeing LTS(extended) last night yet again I have to say it is now my second favorite Muppet Christmas related production directly under Muppet Family...
Btw, in another post you said Winnie the Pooh under performed. I just rewatched that film, my god that "movie" is awful. Hate to say it. The voices were all wrong, the trying to be way too much like the 60's and 70's specials. To me Piglet, Tigger and Huffalump movies were divine...this one...
