No photos at all? Usually they don't want you using flash photography. It's very hard to monitor photography at events today. With the cell phone cams, etc. Believe me, people have pics of everything nowadays...
LOL exactly! :) That's another HUGE reason why I don't think the Muppets have the place in today's culture the way they used to. Think about it: there was far more smarter humor out there in films and T.V. in the 70s....not like the crap that's on T.V. now
It's certainly a double edged sword. I remember reading an interview several years back with Matt Groenig and how he was saying one of the reasons he didn't age the Simpsons characters is because he thought it would take away from who the characters are and then they'd have to come up with...
Ah, see, EX Simpsons writers! :) Must've been a reason for them leaving ;) There's still some decent shows on T.V. I don't watch them because I've pretty much given up on television but I would say stuff like "24" isn't exactly paper thin plots...
Well I felt VMC didn't fly very well as a TV special either. It seemed to me it was a big mish mash of pop culture references enlaced with a paper thin storyline that's been done a million times before! And then they try to appeal to the older Muppet/Henson fans by throwing in the Kermit and the...
Yes, Dave also mentioned that at the Huntinton Muppet event as well: about Gonzo being an alien. I always loved that nobody knew what he was because it made for so many great jokes. The best references to that was on Muppet Babies too I think. He was just a "weirdo" :)
I really dislike Muppets From Space. Hate would be a strong word to use, but it borders on that. I saw it when it first opened in the movies as well and left feeling very disappointed. I have it on VHS and haven't even bothered to upgrade it to DVD yet simply because I don't watch it that often...
Actually I didn't. I put h-e-double hockey stick in and the d- like that you build to stop water from flooding places and/or a beaver's home and those got censored!
Exactly, heralde. And I think that's the other major issue hurting the Muppets today: the writing for much of their recent projects is also garbage. Why was Muppet Xmas Carol and Treasure Island so successful? Because Jerry Juhl was still with us and behind the writing. I'm sure there are other...
They just put it out, yes, BUT how much have they promoted this **** piece of garbage? Every time they have a new animated film come out they promote the **** out of that too. That's what they need to do with the Muppets as well! Promote and produce quality stuff. And I agree, time does produce...
Ah, I got my recent Muppet TV movies mixed up. I liked Oz better only because I felt the characters even though they were playing Oz characters were more themselves. I thought it was more creative than the Xmas movie just parodying every other film.
I never had a puritanical view on the...
I think some of the first few Disney/Muppet projects were very successful and well done: Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island are the first that come to mind. Then of course you have Bear in the Big Blue House, etc. Things started off very promising, but in recent years I have been...
Well this was the first I'm hearing of it, I'm going by what everyone else has been saying...I would imagine though at some point they would close it though, no?
I understand that but we've had threats like this before so it's just rehashing the same topics that have been brought up over and over. It's like the Tim Curry fan group I belong to: we have like 900 threads questioning Tim's sexual preference. Who cares at this point?
But getting back to...
Muppet Treasure Island is great. I had mixed feelings when I first saw it (opening weekend!) but having been to the set and seeing the final result it's truly amazing how much production went into this film even more so then on past and present Muppet projects. Visually it's a spectacular film...
Well I knew it had to at least be updated if it wasn't a different one since they look way different. I like the original personally. Better bus better movie back then.
