I agree! I've had amazing opportunities there over the years to see some of my favorite people, Henson related and non. I just met Michael J. Fox there earlier this month!
LOL Thanks. Well, I think the biggest misconception people have about that museum is that it's a museum where they have exhibits on display or that they constantly have screenings of Muppet stuff. Where rather it's more of a archival/library type facility. I know you know this I'm just...
Sounds like a great event! Jane Henson is a very sweet woman in person. I've met her several times now and I've seen the restored print of Timepiece at the Long Island Henson event they had this past summer. It looks fantastic, you'll love it!
What do you mean the museum of TV & Radio (now the Paley center) has almost nothing? They have a VAST archive of Henson stuff from Muppets to Sesame. I was just there a few weeks ago for an unrelated (non Henson) event and had some time to spare and went digging through the computer archives and...
That is so sad. I was in the building several times when I interned at Henson back in 1999. Matter of fact, my first interview was in Jim Henson's office that the photos can be seen of in Jim Henson: The Works book and on the documentary Henson's Place amongst others. I am so sad that that...
I didn't have cable until the late 80s and I saw Muppet Family Xmas when it first aired on regular television. I still have the tape from back then and I try to be so careful with it and watch it sparingly because if anything happens to it, it's gone. :( The DVD is unfortunately chopped to bits...
Out of the ones I'd like to meet who are still with us? Definitely Frank Oz and Kathy Mullen and Fran Brill (who I didn't get to talk to at the Huntington/Muppet event last summer). I had a chance to meet Mr. Oz that I didn't follow through with because I was trying to do the right thing at the...
Non Muppet obsessions? Anything related to the following: Tim Curry, Rocky Horror, David Bowie, Morrissey/The Smiths, horror movies, The Beatles and the solo Beatles stuff, movies in general, The Opie and Anthony radio show and related stuff, animals, reading, DVD collecting, etc.
Yeah I mean I've had some other near miss celebrity meetings too, but as far as Henson folks go, I've been very blessed/lucky. I'm sure I'll have another opportunity to see Fran at another event in the future. At least I got to see her in person which was a thrill after all these years.
I missed Fran Brill at the Huntington, NY event this past summer. I got to see her at the puppeteer panel performing Zoe but I really wanted to talk to her/meet and get a pic with her. Alas, she had other engagements and didn't stay the rest of the day on Saturday and wasn't there at all on...
I send my mail to the NYC offices and it still gets forwarded....I never got anything sent back to me as far as "undeliverable", "return to sender", etc.
Well, like many recent Muppet projects I was hugely disappointed by this one as well. The CGI stuff was awful, NONE of the human characters featured? I'm sorry but I taped it to watch it and I will be taping over it shortly...not a keeper in my opinion
Yeah this documentary really brought out a lot of emotions I never thought I'd express towards this kind of stuff and really made me think about things I never would give a second thought to normally.
What I also found heartwarming though is how through the Muppets, these kids who really...
Like heralde I also saw this at it's premiere at the Museum of T.V. and Radio in NYC and I still find it a very awe inspiring film. Just seeing what the filmmakers and production crew went through to get these shows off the ground all for the sake of kids is very heartwarming.
Some of these...
