Kynan, I understand what you're saying, but with all due respect you were missing my point. We think it's lousy because we all know our Muppet stuff and are hardcore fans and are very nitpicky about what we are seeing done, most people/families sitting around the television watching America's...
Kynan, I don't think a sub-par performance will help the Muppet fanbase extend into future generations, either. But I do think putting the Muppets back into current T.V. projects and so forth will help though to some degree. Even though I wasn't crazy about those recent Disney Channel specials...
The only handful of people I still keep in touch with from those days are ones I've seen on here or on Facebook. Unfortunately most of those folks have disappeared like you said.
Well said. I have been so happy with Eric Jacobson's Grover and I'm a huge Frank Oz fan and was sad when I heard Frank was going to start turning over his characters to other people especially since thankfully Frank is still with us, etc. But look how wonderful Eric's become with Grover. I would...
Oh yes, I was on the old Prodigy online service as early as 1991/92. I first "met" Steve Whitmire, the late great Jerry Juhl and Muppet writer/historian Craig Shemin back on the old Puppetry bulletin board back around that time.
Exactly. To me, any effort going forward should be applauded in my eyes. So while this might not be the Kermit we know and love, it's a Kermit maybe the general public will love. I don't know but I think any efforts to get just Kermit's face out there at these events and on T.V., I just can't...
Sarah I'm not telling you or anyone else here how to feel, I just don't understand alot of the why's. Believe me, I am just as huge a fan of Steve Whitmire's as you are. I've been corresponding with him online since I was 13 years old (I'll be 32 this year), with his support and friendship over...
I didn't think the voice was that bad, but I WILL agree with you on the spark that is missing from the character. It is the spark that I joyously have found in Eric Jacobson's Grover. Not only is the voice good, but his delivery, cadence, physical trademarks of Grover are spot on to Frank's...
I just watched this too and in my opinion thought vocally it was very well done. Puppetry was still a bit stiff but again I believe that will come with time if Artie is going to continue to perform Kermit.
There have been several people here who came off and said it was horrible, awful, he sucks, etc. And yes I know people are criticizing the performance but it's a reflection of the person it seems, or at least I think it's coming off that way. Of course Kermit deserves the best performer, but I...
I understand what you're saying, but at the same time, I still don't understand why people are so upset by Steve not performing Kermit. I just watched the clip of him and Lady Gaga at the VMA's and actually thought he sounded BETTER then on America's Got Talent. I'm not saying we don't have a...
I have yet to hear/see the recent Kermit appearance at the VMA's. It is concerning as a Muppet fan and a HUGE Steve Whitmire fan, however, I'm not going to let my world fall apart because of it. If Steve for whatever reason is no longer performing Kermit or is not playing him for live...
Where did you buy it from? That does sound very unusual. My mom is a doll collector and owns a few of Tonner's designer dolls and they always come with a COA and a number, etc.
First off, being a huge Opie and Anthony fan I naturally have to dislike Howard ;) But aside from that, Howard has always been very bitter in many aspects and on many topics in the past on his show.
I find it very hard to believe that Jim Henson would send a remark like that but I could...
Will do! :) Don't know of any coming up right now but I'm on a bunch of email lists and I'm sure stuff will be posted here as well if there's anything coming up.
I didn't say it was a "ringing endorsement" but you singled that project out as the better one and I didn't even think it should be in a separate positive category.
I agree the writing is probably the weakest aspect of the Muppets today and what's hurting their current projects the most. The...
I agree that most of the recent stuff is lousy but I also put Letters To Santa in that category. I didn't care for it. I didn't love it or hate it, it was just there. I'm definitely an old school Muppet fan but I also am one of the ones who say I'd rather see the Muppets out there doing...
As I had posted previously around this board before, the Halloween special isn't happening this year. This came from Craig Shemin's lips himself at the recent 30th anniversary screening for the Muppet Movie at BAM in Brooklyn, NY last month.
