I saw the Oscar and Sesame sign they had on display at the Smithsonian when I was there wow, about 8 years ago now! They had a nice photo in yesterday's AM NY newspaper of Jane Henson amongst the puppets that are being donated
I have very old Sesame dolls that I just ran through the washing machine on a few cycles. Obviously, the wash won't fix any holes, but will certainly get rid of the smell and possibly some of the stains.
He sometimes is a guest at various film conventions. Some of the ones he's done recently: Chiller Theatre in Parsippany, NJ or Supermegashow in Boston or sometimes they have ones in NJ.
I watched mine this past weekend. It was great having this on DVD. I thought the Amphibian extra was interesting, but after while seemed to go on a little too long and with the Michael K. Frith introduction, seemed like they were showing the same pages over and over. And using the same music...
My Muppet fandom is based on everything else I'm into: in that it's something I grew up with and changed my life for the better. I'm more of an old-schooler Muppet fan in that I collect and show interest in stuff they have done in the past. I encourage any new projects but I find I just don't...
Looks like we all missed an event here: http://www.bam.org/view.aspx?pid=2393
That's why in the feedback section of this forum I proposed a possible "Events" thread so we can post threads about stuff like the above. Sorry I missed it :(
See, I guess I'm in the minority, because I hated VMX movie as I thought the humor felt forced and tried to jam in too much stuff that was popular at the time it came out. LTS was a little bit more of an improvement, but was still missing something in my mind.
Muppets From Space is the worst lol
Ah, yes, we had one at our local mall, that I only managed to get to visit once while it was there. It was unfortunately filled with mostly children's products (clothes, toys, etc.) with a small section (basically a corner) of merchandise for adult fans. I still have the sweatshirt I bought...
You know I own the DVD but haven't watched it since I bought it, so I'm going by the version that aired on T.V. From what I remember, yes it did seem a bit rushed, but I felt that way with alot of the recent Muppet productions including the last two Christmas made for T.V. movies, Muppets From...
Just recently got into his stuff a bit. I saw Spirited Away on cable a few years back and was blown away by the story and the animation and I am not traditionally an anime fan. But I thought Spirited Away was so wonderful, after seeing it I went online the next day and bought the DVD.
Now...
Agreed. There's a few films in the 70s and 80s that are 2D animation that I liked but overall that "sketchy" style of animation I never cared for. I like Sword in the Stone though and Robin Hood.
Have to agree though Fantasia 2000 was excellent, much better than I thought it would be. Tarzan...
Mupp, well I'll have to give some of the newer films a shot then. I know my sister has loved a lot of the new CGI films in recent years. I was most excited to hear about the Princess and the Frog, which I still have to rent yet.
Yeah I totally understand wanting to experiment with new technologies and what not, heck, Jim Henson did it with his work, so I get that aspect of it. I just personally would rather watch a hand drawn old Disney film from the 1930s or 1940s than a CGI film today. That's just me.
