Oh I totally agree, Dr. Tooth. Batman is another great example. Like I've said in some of my other posts about DVDs around here on the board, when they originally produced these shows, unfortunately they never thought about down the road that people might want to own/see these again and what...
It's certainly not right to bootleg, but unfortunately people do it and until the movie/T.V. studios that have produced all these things give us official DVD releases, people are going to continue bootlegging them. :(
On another note, I wasn't too nervous meeting Kevin Clash because I had...
Exactly, I go to a lot of movie conventions and people have dealers tables with a lot of bootlegged series that are not yet on IMDB. Muppet Babies is actually a big one, along with the original Beatles cartoons from the 60s.
Yes, indeed that is me with Elmo when I met Kevin Clash and the...
Oh absolutely agreed, Dr. Tooth! I have Verizon Fios, and there's about 40 stations I never bother to even take a peek at, and like half of them are "empty" local access channels. I'd love to see one of those put to good use with older shows.
Hub is on the right track with their reruns of...
I'd love to see some of the complete old Sesame Street episodes because unfortunately, my local cable company had gotten Noggin AFTER the Unpaved shows were aired on their regular schedule. I had a former email friend at the time at least tape the TV special they did on the history of Sesame...
Been meaning to thank you for all the links, Brian. Glad to see you're still around by the way, wow, your site was the first Muppet site I came across online when I first got into the internet!
I caught the show when they were in NYC this past summer and it was by far one of the funniest and...
Well it's probably not a hoax, they are just bootlegs, not official releases. I don't think we will ever see Muppet Babies released on DVD because of all the T.V. clips and things that were used throughout the show (like everytime they opened the closet in the nursery, etc.)
I saw the world premiere of World According to Sesame Street at the Museum of Television and Radio (now the Paley Center) in NYC. Marty Robinson was there on the post screening panel with Telly and it was such a brilliant film. I also agree with you, I LOVE behind the scenes Muppet footage and...
If they end up using the footage, I will briefly be seen in this film. About 3 years back or so when Kevin Clash was doing a book tour for his biography, one of the in-store book signings I went to, they had a camera crew and were filming for this documentary. I was seated right up front, so if...
Actually the Hollywood Reporter isn't a "bunch of nobodies". They are a very legitimate entertainment industry magazine and website. They are one of our most steady clients at my job. I agree those end of year lists and compilation lists are usually a bunch of bunk and sounds like this one is...
Welcome sir ;) The book sounds awesome, and I agree with what Beaker said in the post above me. You can make puppets that are fun and great with very simple items. My first and only puppet I made included cushion foam, styrofoam balls and staples and glue and it turned out alright.
Minor, it's because the physical licensing agreements and legalities are different. Music used to be licensed to T.V. shows as a one time use for whatever the T.V. show was using the music. I'm sure now with newer television shows, agreements are made for music to be used on DVD releases, etc...
Um, yes, David that's what I put in my original post:
"Back when the Muppet Show bought the rights to use the songs on the show itself, there was no "crystal ball" that these song rights were going to be needed for use again for home video in the future. Television music licensing rights and...
I agree it's a lousy system, but unfortunately we're all at the mercy of this stuff unless like you said there's something that can be done and someone takes a stand, but how they can legally I'm not sure...
Dr. Tooth, music licensing/catalog rights are not that simple. My sister worked in music publishing (the part of the business that owns the rights to sell songs for various uses) for almost 2 years, and not only is it a tangled mess of an industry, it also has to do with different uses of what...
