Give people a little more credit. They're not going to sway a certain way politically because of a stinking cartoon. People are (disgustingly) easily swayed, but not that much.
And just FYI, population control is a serious environmental concern (just look at the latest climate report from NASA).
Sorry for the three-year-late reply, but at least Captain Planet was "preachy" about actual problems (you know, don't mess up the only livable planet we have), whereas most people actually know that pot isn't going to kill you, and the whole "gateway drug" thing is a farce.
I don't personally hate him. I think the hatred is a tad overblown (I've seen people call him the AntiChrist. Drama queen much?). I think that over the years, there have just become some cartoon characters who it's become acceptable to hate to melodramatic levels (Lisa Simpson is approaching...
Just got back from seeing it, and....I really liked it! This is exactly what I want from a Muppet movie; it had a good story, good songs, good, appropriate suspense. the characters all worked perfectly, and it had softer, touching moments without seeming overly sappy or cutesy (and the cameos...
So we're doing live-action shows now? Okay, I have a few:
iCarly: It's just plain unpleasant, and not funny. The main character is bland (and I don't know who wanted to see that little brat from Drake and Josh in a starring role, but they must have been nuts), her best friend is a nasty...
I want to see the world. More realistically though, I'd like to move either to the West Coast (Pacific Northwest, where we neo-hippie folk belong) or to Australia (the latter won't be possible for a very long time, probably).
At the risk of being "evil-unpopular-opinion-girl" again, Muppets Wizard of Oz at least made me laugh more than once, which is more than I can say for The Muppets (not that it was a good movie, but at least there was that). I laughed once when I saw The Muppets (the barbershop quartet scene)...
I doubt they're actually married. No doubt they're committed to each other, but a lot of free-thinking hippie types don't feel they need to be married to prove that (I'm sort of in that mindset myself).
Maybe this is my whacko vegan brain at work, but I don't get how you could kill an animal that a child in your family once considered a pet. After all, people who have had pigs as pets say that they're every bit as smart, loyal, and loving as dogs.
You don't think that your posts could be construed as "fanboy self-righteousness"? I'm just saying, for someone who wants his opinions on movies tolerated and accepted, the least you could do is not get apoplectic when people state theirs.
If anything that saved a popular franchise is automatically above criticism, I guess all the Scrappy Doo haters are wrong. That's right, the most hated cartoon character of (possibly) all-time is the only reason the Scooby-Doo franchise still exists. Before Scrappy was created, there weren't...
Then we could all whine and moan about other people's choices in this thread that we disagree with, by that logic. I gave good reasons why I didn't like The Muppets in another thread, and you still complained. How about we stop whining about unpopular opinions on movies and TV? We're not...
I woke up, took Skylar for a walk, fed her, ate my breakfast, did some laundry, went to the bank, went to work, came home, took a shower, ate my evening meal, and now I'm talking to you guys. Sweet...
