Since I've already been contacted by someone here who's name I will not mention, I just wanted to politely decline in the fact that I can't really help with making copies of the Jim Henson Memorial DVDs that I own. I have a lot of personal things going on right now, and am planning my wedding...
I believe there was perhaps a service done in London, but this was the one held at St. John the Divine in NYC that a lot of the local and bigger news outlets covered at the time.
IOffer.com is a great site. It's sort of like Ebay without the auction aspect of it. You just buy and sell to...
Yes, I saw this on IMDB.com this morning. I do hope it will be decent, as I was vastly disappointed in Elmo in Grouchland. I know that film was targeted towards a younger audience, so I do hope this new film will be like Follow That Bird in that will appeal to all ages. Afterall, Big Bird in the...
Well, that's true in some cases, but I have other copies of albums on both CD and vinyl and the CDs are supposed to be from original masters, etc. and the vinyl still sounds better. What newer formats do you suggest in regards to listening to music? I'm not a big fan of MP3s, either as they are...
Hi, Laszlo, nah, it's not about being a perfectionist. I get wanting to see the film in the best quality you can (heck, that's why the Blu-Ray business is doing so well, and I have to admit they're amazing, but like Bandit said, it's more for the nostalgia and being a genuine film lover wanting...
Labyrinth is a real treat (well any old school Henson production is) to see on the big screen. I saw Labyrinth at the Henson festival they had in Huntington Long Island several years back, and it was special for me because I really wanted to see it when it first came out (I was about 10 years...
Thank you SOOOO much for posting the gist of the discussion, and the event itself, and wow, you were in the second row? Awesome!! It was great reading about this and the techniques involved, because this not only my favorite film so far that Frank has directed, but one of my favorite movie musicals.
How was the event, Kristin? I heard Frank was very accessible after the screening hanging out in the lobby...figures when I saw him at Museum of Moving Image in October he had a gaggle of museum staff around him, so I had to kinda worm my way in when he had a moment on his own lol Was the Q&A...
That would be awesome! Unfortunately I won't be home that night (hence why I can't make the Oz event) but that would be great for other people to follow and a write up after the event would be even cooler. I need to vicariously live through others for this event. lol
Great to hear someone from here is going! Definitely let us know how it goes! I really wish I could be there this time around, but "real life" priorities first....I'm very surprised I haven't read any mention of this on all the other "go to" Muppet sites besides this one...as Kermit would says...
Bumping this up, is anyone going to this? Surprised more people aren't talking about this! This is HUGE! Frank Oz is coming back to NYC to discuss one of the films HE directed!!
Seems like Frank Oz is starting to make more public appearances lately: he was at the Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, NY last October, and now he's coming to Brooklyn on May 16th (Jim's death anniversary) for a "Night of Oz". Two screenings back to back of his films Little Shop of Horrors...
I was seen on this in the audience!!! For those who are on my Facebook I put up some screen grabs, for everyone else, when I get home tonight I'll post some here. :) I'm at work and don't have the files with me...
I did see Frank at the Museum of Moving Image, it was an incredible event and don't get me wrong, I am VERY honored to have met Frank Oz finally, but you have to understand I had 2 or 3 previous missed opportunities to meet him, and it didn't happen until recently, so it was a little frustrating...
Hey, one thing I forgot to ask people who went to the shows too: were they selling any kind of souvenirs in relation to the event? I was sitting outside by the stage door all day, we never really went in the main lobby before our performance, so was wondering if they had anything like that for sale?
