Michael Earl is an amazing guy. He was my teacher at Puppet School in NYC that I took this past spring. Very talented, patient and has really interesting stories about his work with the Muppets, and puppeteering in general. I was very saddened to hear about his recent diagnosis but am happy to...
Maybe getting close since there's only standby tix left, but Frank Oz is once again returning to NYC for the director's cut screening of Little Shop of Horrors. More info to be found here:
No problem, Walter. These conventions are overwhelming events, that sometimes it's hard to take in and remember everything too. I do hope you get a response. Hmm, I'm wondering who the Jim look alike is. At any rate, I'm glad you got to go to your first convention. They really are a great time...
I enjoyed reading about everyone's experiences at Dragon Con. I enjoy going to horror movie and comic cons myself in the NY/NJ area when I can. Who was the other puppeteer at the Heather Henson/Jerry Nelson panel? I'm very curious? I agree though, almost all the folks I've met from the Muppets...
I've been beside myself on hearing of Jerry's recent passing but I've been enjoying reading everyone's thoughts and memories of him. People have been posting wonderful photos of him on Facebook, etc. I'm also very happy to see alot of the major news sites and media outlets reporting on him and...
I'm not saying Disney's completely at fault for the Muppet Show holdup. I know a lot of things get shuffled around with DVD releases: I work in the industry, and things are constantly being re-marketed, there's the possible copyright issue like Pinkflower said. I just was real surprised that if...
I had a couple of Muppet slumps over the years, the worst being in my teens when I foolishly decided to toss some of my Muppet collectibles away, and also during the time of Muppets Tonight!/MFS etc. again, still following and watching the shows and movies, but not really being "into" it.
I don't think any of us here including me could prove that any other approach to this film would've been a bomb. The point is, typical Disney went with the "safe" option.
If Disney's doing such a great job with the Muppets, how come it's been like 4 years since Season 3 of the Muppet Show came out and we haven't gotten the last two seasons on DVD? If Disney was doing such a great job, they would've RAN with the opportunity when the new film came out to get the...
It was definitely a positive step in the right direction. I agree there have been some less than stellar attempts made in the past several years, but that's my point: I still stuck it out to see what they were going to do next because I still had faith in them and didnt' want to give up on...
I had a similar discussion with someone on Facebook the other day regarding the new Batman films. I HATED these past 3 films in the Dark Knight trilogy, and think a different director and recasts of the characters would make it different. I'm not into Christian Bale as Batman. Never have been...
I'm well aware that this isn't the past, but I don't think that means as a fan I should "move on". I still love the characters, and look forward to new projects, so why should I avoid something in the future if I still enjoy them? I didn't say I hated this movie. I liked it even better than I...
I have no problem that Frank wasn't directly involved with the new film. I didn't expect him to be, and I love Eric Jacobson's work that he's been doing with Frank's characters. I loved his work as Fozzie in this one. Piggy I'm still on the fence with. I know they HAD to make a movie like this...
