LOL, I understand where you're coming from, D'Snowth, and I agree there's a lot of wackos at these things, but I think that's kind of part of the fun, and honestly, when I go to these things I'm on my own agenda seeing different panels/celebs, etc. and I focus on that and really don't associate...
I agree, Beaker. I too, have spent a lot of money going to conventions and while I haven't really left the NY tri-state area for one yet, if I had the unlimited funds to do so, I definitely would. I would love to go to the San Diego con one day.
Hubert, you're entitled to your opinion, but I have to politely disagree. I believe if someone commits something unspeakable, they should not be forgiven like nothing happened. Maybe you'd feel different if you were a parent of the kids who are claiming they were abused, or if you had a family...
Yeah, but if they've done something that horrific, they're NOT a good person, that's my point. There's something not right in the head. They don't deserve to be forgiven. If someone sadly turns to drugs or something like that, that's a mistake, and an illness that can be helped. If someone is...
I'm sorry but IF the accusations against Kevin are true, it's unforgiveable. Don't be like the throngs of Beatles/John Lennon fans, who because the Beatles sang "All You Need Is Love", etc. that what Mark David Chapman did by murdering Lennon was ok. If someone does something really messed up...
I don't know, I've been to some Muppet events in the past, where there were a LOT of wackjobs there. In fact, the first time I met Jerry Nelson at the Museum of T.V. and Radio in NYC there were people bombarding him, that his wife, Jan gently dragged him out of there. People were asking him to...
Why not? I think it's a great thing to have Muppets at conventions. It gets more people to see these characters and performers in person, they have stuff to promote so it's easy exposure for whatever they're promoting, and it's just fun! Not to mention Comic Cons, horror cons, etc. are never...
Exactly, I'm less worried about the future of Elmo than the future of Sesame Workshop, and what the whole cast and crew and Kevin's family is going through right now. I know I personally thought Kermit was going to disappear when Jim passed, and of course they had Steve who took over...
As I said, no idea what's true or not, but one thing is true, Kevin has resigned. And I'm a sad Muppet fan for it. I do agree, though that these kinds of stories give puppeteers a bad view. Sadly most people think of puppetry as children's entertainment only. We are an ignorant society.
Just reading about this, apparently a second guy came forward also claiming underage sexual relations with Kevin. NO idea of the real story, if true or not, but all I can say is I'm very sad to see Kevin leave Sesame Workshop after enjoying his work for so many years.
Jackie, please send me a PM on here with your email address. I'd be happy to send it to you. We used the song for the same thing as part of our wedding, for the bridal party to walk into the ceremony with! We had a pianist and it sounded beautiful.
I would LOVE to go to this, considering I work a few blocks away!! But alas, I'm not a D23 member and really don't have the extra dough to sign up right now.
I haven't downloaded the ones from Itunes, but from what I heard, I think Netflix's offerings are only a fraction of what's available through Itunes. Still nice to see though! Keep 'em coming!
Hey, everyone, wasn't sure if you were aware, but about 20 or so classic Sesame episodes are available on Netflix streaming!! I found them by chance last night and was overjoyed. Watched an episode from 1974 with a VERY young Maria, and the 2nd Gordon!! Great stuff!
I can't go either. I have a christening followed by a luncheon during the afternoon when the event will be taking place, and a Halloween party that night! I'm very bummed I can't make this one.
