I gotta hear this when I get home (at work). I think Matt Vogel has done a phenomenal job with taking over Grover, and like Dr. Tooth said, it's all about the character first, and when I first heard Eric's Grover I was like wow, this guy NAILED it as far as getting down the movements, the...
Didn't they already try this though, with Muppets Tonight? I think they would be better off on a cable channel, perhaps back at Disney than broadcast TV.
Yeah PBS has aired two different versions of this. I had two copies on tape, one had an intro with Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear on the phone with Kermit, and some other compilation clips in it, and when they re-aired it some of those clips were gone.
I hear so many people call Rowlf "Ralph" but I always followed Jim's pronunciation of him, and I always felt that his name was kind of supposed to sound like a dog bark. But I guess people see the "ow" and think OW lol
No, I enjoy this song. It's a beautifully written song by Paul Williams, and I think it's a nice addition to the movie. I'm glad I bought the DVD version that has it.
I can say this much, I'm not sure how Tough Pigs runs their events or what's involved, but I do know as also a long time fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, almost ALL their fan conventions are run by the fans, with the exception of the few "big anniversaries" that 20th Century Fox has...
Kickstarter could be a good place to start, actually. I have friends who are working on a documentary of the Rocky Horror cult and it started with an online crowd funding site and has escalated. And look, so did the I Am Big Bird film, and now they have a distributor! Maybe a Kickstarter...
You definitely should check out the exhibit at the NYPL. It was phenomenal, I went early on, and attended a puppet demonstration class with Marty Robinson that evening. They are doing other live events in the coming months that are free and open to the public in conjunction with the exhibit. It...
Thank you for explaining the inside story of all this to us. It's a shame Henson wasn't on board with this. My question is though, how does one of the other big Muppet fan sites get to do their screenings and Muppet related events? Surely, they have to get permission from Disney or another one...
Thank you so much for sharing your story! Love the picture, btw! Yeah I agree about Sonia. I've met her a couple of times now and I've gotten the same impression, but I was able to get a photo with her on one of those occasions, so I'm happy :)
That's too bad that not everyone got to ask their...
I
I'm pretty sure they advertised it as a panel. And panels with Muppet performers usually 9 out of 10 means a furry friend will appear with them. I would've been thrilled to see any of the characters.
I wasn't there, but from what I saw online, Eric Jacobsen was there with Grover, Leslie Carrera-Rudolph with Abby, and Joey Mazzarino with Murray Monster. I saw some great photos on Facebook and various websites. I'm bummed I couldn't attend NYCC this year.
How was this event?? Were you able to get photos with the performers? Did they bring their characters? I only ask, because I've attended one of the Town Hall events before for Sirius/XM a few years ago and got to ask a question on air to John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. And afterwards my...
I never said Fran retiring is bad news, I wish her the best and totally "get it". I just attended a puppetry class with Marty Robinson a few weeks ago at the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, and while he made no mention of Fran's retirement, he did say that the long standing performers...
There was a different performer definitely playing Ernie when I watched the show last week. It was an episode where Bert needed his bike fixed and Luis was helping him fix it.
Wow, what an end of an era. One of the first female Muppet performers (and an amazing one at that). For someone like myself who grew up with Sesame Street in the late 70s and 80s, Fran was a big part of the core of the show for me, especially as a kid who listened to the various Sesame Street...
