At first, SS was basically an experiment to see if TV could be used to teach preschoolers. I think all that "being thought of as a children's entertainer" mostly started when Jim was trying get TMS on the air.
Well maybe the episodes in the link are the episodes they've got planned to air so far. There may be more; it's probably just the first set...but I could be wrong. Don't quote me on my guess.
I don't know if anyone has heard, but tonight on ABC there was a Muppet Marathon in which 4 episodes of the series were all aired in a row: "Pig's in a Blackout", "The Ex-Factor", "Going, Going, Gonzo", and "Single All the Way".

I don't have HBO either...well, only because I don't have cable or satellite TV. But as far as the episodes they listed goes, you can already view Episode 1186 on YouTube, Old School Volume 2 (if you have access to a copy), iTunes/Netflix, Episode 3174 on iTunes/Netflix.
So...now that it's been confirmed that there will be classic episodes airing...how far back are they going to go, and will they be cut down to half an hour?
I watched PBS' airing of the special the other night. Overall, it was...pretty good. Like Shane pointed out, there was a great balance between the Muppets and the choir. Of course I enjoyed every scene that focused on our good old childhood friends. But there was one moment that really stuck...
My top 4 favorite Henson shows would have to be Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, and Muppet Babies (in no specific order.)
But if I were to pick just one, it would have to be Sesame Street, because...well...let's face it- a lot of us here grew up on it, and it was the first Muppet...
