Helloooooo everybodeeeeeeee! It is your old pal Beakie!
I've been popping in and out of MC a lot the last few months, and I've noticed something - there has been a lot of complaining, and a lot of leaving. I'll admit, I've been doing some of the complaining as well, but this has got to stop...
I don't think it's the traffic everyone is worried about. Yes, this is "just a forum", but it used to feel like a family. It used to be that everyone here cared about promoting the spirit of Jim Henson - his humor, his love and kindness, etc. Most people here don't care so much about that anymore...
I know a couple Muppets fans, but usually it's "Oh, I love the Muppet Christmas Carol" and that's about it. I have a friend who occasionally wears Muppet t-shirts, but I've never met anyone (in person) as big of a fan as me.
First semester is always tough. It takes time to adjust to the new environment, new workload, find where you "belong", and meet people. And mid-semester is almost always a killer. You would not believe how many times I have come to the middle of a semester and thought "I should just give up"...
So, I haven't really had the chance to read everyone's responses, but here is where I stand:
I believe prayer is a conversation. It has no "power", because the power is God's. I don't pray just to ask God for things or tell Him my wants and needs - I pray because I desire to have a closer...
I will pray for her. Quitting is a VERY difficult thing (believe me, I know...). Sometimes people just honestly can't quit until it is too late. Others see the dangers of such habits and are able to quit fairly easily. The key is willpower - the person has to find it in themself to say "I'm...
Lol... technically I'm from Santa Rosa, which is fairly close to Bodega Bay, so we get a lot of the coastal winds which makes me very grateful for the heat. I'm much more of a SoCal girl, though. I lived in LA for a while and thoroughly enjoyed the warm weather down there ^_^
Haha this is a great thread.
"Super Freak" by Rick James and "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer. Practically identical, despite their lyrical and style differences.
Sheesh, I'd love to have some of your guys' heat! It's mid-July and we're only just starting to get hot days around here (granted, in CA one's idea of a "hot day" is usually at least above 75).
Lately I've been finding all sorts of oddly flavored M&Ms... The local grocery store has been selling Coconut M&Ms which are spectacular, as well as Peanut Butter & Strawberry - a strangely tasty combo. I've yet to try the Pretzel ones.
Hey Dwayne!
Having worked/been in youth ministry for the past five years or so, here are some things I've found that work:
1. Start your weekly Bible-study night with a game or two. Make it a game that gets the kids off their feet and running around because it gets their energy out and ready...
I leave for a couple months and everyone's either gettin married or havin babies... sheesh.
But congrats to both of you! I am very happy for you guys :)
