It's funny - after all these years, I still find Eric's Fozzie to be incredibly hot or miss.
Really liking Matt's Kermit, though, sounds even more like the Kermit I'd expect here. Starting to wonder if the "angry, depressed victim" side actually came from Steve, as it's yet to appear since he...
Honestly, this is how I've felt about Animal for ages, especially after Jacobsen took over; have never once understood his major appeal.
I'm indifferent to Rizzo; he works wonderfully with Gonzo, but on his own, not so much. I kinda wonder if they'll just retire him, as he's not an imperative...
Didn't the same happen with Fozzie at some point, or am I imagining things? I would think that a replacement fabric wouldn't be impossible to find.. then again, maybe I'm wrong on that one. :p
Genuinely wasn't expecting this today... is it bad that I'm really digging Matt's performance?
My only real complaint I even had with Steve, was that his performance drifted way too far from Jim; of course, some changes were needed, but in the later years, he felt less like Kermit, and more...
I was just turning seven when this premiered, and yet, I vividly remember my disappointment and disdain for Abby; can't say much has changed, minus going from "hating her" to "tolerating her". :P I never found her all that fun or interesting; if I recall correctly, her only real trait has been...
Kermit is an imperative character to The Muppets, and, as much as I found Steve's interpretation of Kermit to be okay, I really feel it's in the best interest of the character to revert somewhat to Jim's original vision.. just my fan preference though, and nothing against Steve.
Little late on this, but figured I'd put my thoughts in anyways.
Wembley is a really hard character to truly replicate/recreate, in my opinion... Steve really found a fine line between (in terms of voice, anyway) overly raspy/squeaky, and and almost a childlike sense of whimsy and...
Any chance of getting a link for the PDF? Iff not, no worries.
I'm glad Steve is speaking out about this; I feel that he really does know what's right for the characters, as do many of the performers; seems as though Disney fired him for whatever reasons they wanted, and they used...
Bein' Green had a positive message, and Kermit came to terms with being green, even embracing it.. Pictures in My Head is just Kermit reminising and feeling sorry for himself.. not sure how they messed that one up so bad, honestly.. in my opinion anyways, nothing against those who liked the song :P
Disney definitely wouldn't have kept Oz around; they like to have unebelieveable control over their franchises, and this is where a lot of the issue stems from, in my opinion. Although, based on what I know from Disney, it seems odd they'd fire Whitmire over being rude to coworkers and not...
I was hoping someone would bring this up - I will say this.. I don't think The Muppets should've been sold to Disney, at any point. Jim was ever weary of the deal in 89/90, and I think the things he was worried about still hold up just as well today... gotta say, I'm with Steve on this one...
My internet goes out for 5 days, and this story blows up while I'm gone.. typical :P
So, now the Henson kids are saying it's been long overdue for a recast? I'm not sure if its Steve, or the material he's given, but I do agree that Kermit has seemed oddly bitter the last few years, and the new...
According to Steve, Disney called and him and said "they were recasting".. take that info as you will, I suppose.
Sesame is a whole other story for me - I haven't liked how it's been run for quite a while now, bordering a decade now (2009 or so), nor do I really keep up with it. Sesame isn't...
With all this confusion and sadness, I will say this; I'm really looking forward to Matt as Kermit; I obviously love Steve, but Matt is an amazingly talented guy, and I'm really excited to see exactly what he does with our green flippered friend.
It'll obviously take some time to adjust, both...
Thanks for the info; I recall a video where Frank stated his complaints, and I can't say I disagree; some of the characters, especially Fozzie (and this hasn't changed, in my eyes) became incredibly one-note, as if the writers merely forgot what made the characters so beloved and charismatic in...
