This may be pushing the definition of "puppetry" a bit, but I do think this could be considered a puppet of sorts. It's a trick I used to do in school.
(Note: Some of this involves sharp stuff, so it should only be done by an adult old enough to know what they're doing).
First, you take a...
I never understood why they got rid of Sam The Robot. It seems like they could have done so many more plots with him, especially in this day and age of computers.
Did you ever see the episode about the water shortage on Sesame Street? It was a bit disturbing that Dr. Nobel Price's rain...
Yeah, I guess "Telly Monster" doesn't really work since he's not into television anymore. I'm really surprised that they didn't change his whole name.
You know, I've never seen one skit or even picture of Telly with the funny eyes and a passion for TV. I'm very curious as to how he looked and...
Well, monster doesn't have to be a bad thing. I think part of the idea was to extinguish fears that kids may have about monsters.
What I've really wondered is what you're supposed to call the "human" muppets like Ernie and Bert, Sherlock Hemlock, Guy Smiley, etc. People? Than how do you...
I know that was the popular belief when they changed it, I just question whether or not it was valid. I don't feel that watching those old episodes with Snuffy made me vulnerable to abuse and I think parents could allow their children to watch these episodes today with a clear conscience. I...
It just seems like if they were going to re-shoot the scene because they thought it was awkward, they would have rewritten it for both of the characters to say hello to one another. Or was Telly's line simply dubbed in over the original take? Again, I may have seen it once, but I have little...
I could understand that had Snuffy been a menacing character that Big Bird was afraid of and couldn't get anyone to take him seriously. But, Snuffy was Big Bird's best friend. To say that not believing in Big Bird's friend is similar to not believing children when they report abuse was a bit...
The only problem with smoking is that if there are other people in the room, the smoker is forcing them to smoke as well. Other habits like overeating, drinking, and gambling doesn't force other people around us to take part in it. I think that's what really sets smoking apart from other issues.
That rings a slightly familiar bell. Interesting. It almost seems kind of strange to see unresolved tension between Sesame Street characters (unless it's Oscar, of course). I wonder why Bert wouldn't say hello to Telly; he said hello to Kermit on the subway and Bert doesn't usually talk to...
The trouble with a "late night" slot is that nostalgic adults may not be able to share their memories with their own children. Sesame Street from the 70's and 80's is still good for children, even if adults like it too.
I didn't say that they weren't on the show anymore. I said the CHARACTERS WHO WERE AROUND IN 1994. Whether they are still on the show or not, the fact is that THEY WERE AROUND IN 1994.
Also, by focusing on one small sentence I typed, I think you miss the point of this post. I thought it...
Farley's voice was on the Sesame Street 2 album in Big Bird's song, "Everyone Makes Mistakes." Curiously, the illustrated sing-along booklet that came with the album, did not show Farley in that song, but they illustrated Farley as the boy in "Has Anyone Seen My Dog" page, even though that was...
