Murray, I'd love the audio from those panels. I missed some of them because there was just so dang much to do. We didn't even make it to the dealer's room, for crying out loud!
TheSHE124, yes, I believe that was the Chamberlain. SkekSil, IIRC. I remember him looking over when I did the...
I had so many great experiences at the con this year! It's not easy to assimilate them, but I'll post some here. It may help break me out of the funk I'm in now because the con is over and I just took my friend Kathy to the airport.
What I'm sure you'll want to hear about first...
Mary Sue/Gary Stu and other variations are nauseatingly idealized characters that authors plop into a story, where they proceed to become the center of the universe. The other characters fall into orbit around them, often romantically , not because they are so great or the story calls for it...
Mission accomplished. They looked pleasantly surprised to get their bundles of cards.
More later when I don't have to type slowly and painfully on an iPod screen.
:)
In preparation for Dragon*Con my friend and I did a photo shoot. I wanted to carry a "portfolio" around on my iPad. Here are two of Janken, for once "live" instead of posing on a plunger...
To quote Despicable Me 2, "He's so fluffy I'm gonna diiiie!"
Thanks, guys! Glad you like him. I'll take some more photos soon. Right now I'm busy hanging out with a friend who I only get to see once per year, at Dragon*Con time.
I don't know about taking videos at D*C, but I'll certainly be taking photos.
Status update:
I've gotten a fair number of postcards. I've sent confirmation E-mails to the senders when I was able, but there are a few cards I can't resolve to an E-mail address. If you send me yours over five days ago and are wondering if I got it, E-mail me with your name and I'll give...
What the...devil was that? In 1990 that might have been decent CGI, but today...Arrgh. It's like a high school CGI class got together, each contributing one character, and then doodled out a story around it for their class project.
Heh, if you've read my fic it's pretty obvious which player is me. Right now the stage is pretty random. When I finally get rid of the dumpsters and piano I'll neaten it up. But I'm always moving things around 'cause I don't want the characters to get complacent, y'know? ;)
You can "like" or "dislike" your friends' stages. And if roses get thrown onto their stages you can swipe them for cash. Aside from that, well, it's just looking around to see what others have done. Oh, and there are achievements for the number of friends you amass, so get get some sort of...
There's an episode of the Jim Henson Hour titled (IIRC) "Secrets of the Muppets" in which the camera pulls back, revealing the puppeteers, and the Muppets completely freak out. They can't stand the concept of being puppets. I believe Gonzo says not to use the P-word. Maybe that's where that...
Janken Fraggle was the first puppet I built, over a year ago, and I've learned so much since then. Since Jan's debut was at Dragon*Con 2012, I wanted to have Jan 2.0 ready in time for Dragon*Con 2013. And here he is!
Yeah, that's not a great picture, but it's late and I'm still learning...
