    Maria, David and Bob Skit

That was great. I actually recall an earlier version being done with Tom as the waiter. I think both skits had the same kind of song. This is how I remember it going (correct me if anyone remembers different): The door on the left is the one to go in Come out on the right and as neat as a...

    Roosevelt Franklin and Sesame Workshop

Sometimes it's difficult to figure out what they consider a "stereotype". In most ways, Roosevelt Franklin was the total opposite of the stereotypical way that African Americans were portrayed in old comedy films and TV shows. In every way that mattered, he was a positive role model for kids...

    Follow That Bird Discussion Thread

I wonder how she would work as a reoccurring character on the TV show.

    Sonia Manzano's debut

Yeah, it's interesting how they do that. David was probably supposed to be a teenager too. Other examples of that are shows like Happy Days and movies like Grease. Sometimes they really stretched the imagination.

    "Christmas Eve" Episode

Biff and Sully would be good stars of a Labor Day special.

    "Christmas Eve" Episode

Thanksgiving seems to be the least celebrated holiday in popular culture and children's entertainment. I don't know; I guess there's only so much you can do with Pilgrims, Indians, and dead turkeys. LOL

    "Christmas Eve" Episode

I do remember an old short story about April Fool's Day in a Sesame Street magazine. Everyone kept tricking Big Bird and saying "April Fool." He thought that he was supposed to be the April Fool and since a fool is like a clown, he put on his clown outfit and had fun for the rest of the day...

Some of the most obscue Sesame Street muppets

What are some of the most obscure muppets on Sesame Street that you recall? I would say some very obscure ones were the monster's in the skit with Grover and Herry's alphabet secret. I never saw those characters in anything else. That muppet in a paper bag seemed like a variation of Oscar...

    Sonia Manzano's debut

The Sesame Street Unpaved book describes the early Maria as a "somewhat hippie-ish teen." Remember, we're talking about the character, not the actress. Just because Sonia Manzano was in her twenties, doesn't mean she couldn't have been playing a teenager.

    "Christmas Eve" Episode

It's also funny when Kermit quotes a child as saying that Santa sneaks in with the other relatives and stays all year round. Well, that would explain how he gets into ONE home, now how about all the others? :zany:

    "Christmas Eve" Episode

The funniest answer was when Grover asked one child how Santa fits down the chimney and he said that Santa comes down with his reindeer. That's no answer; that's another question! LOL

    Roosevelt Franklin and Sesame Workshop

I've been listening to the album "The Year of Roosevelt Franklin" lately and I've noticed that it had some of the most positive messages out of all the early Sesame Street albums. There are songs that teach kids not to go out into the street and other safety tips, they tell how it's wrong to...

    Roosevelt Franklin and Sesame Workshop

It's interesting. There's really a thin line between removing characters because they are an "ethnic stereotype" and removing them because they have an "ethnic identity".

Colorform Art with Ernie and Bert

Colorforms are an old classic toy that has been around for some time. I believe they are still sold, but many types of sets are no longer in production. The Ernie and Bert set that I do my skits with is from 1970 and long since discontinued, but I'm sure you could find one on eBay (that's...
