*nods* I've made a few friends on YouTube who are old-schoolers with toddlers of their own; they've said the kids enjoyed the older clips, too. In my opinion, Sesame Workshop should take advantage of that by airing more oldies that kids today could still understand. ("Typewriter Guy" letter...
I'd like to see computer-friendly copies of those episodes myself, especially 1091 (a gap in the trip story is a real bummer!). As for the .mp4 conversions I promised to put on GigaSize...three of my episodes are running through the converter as I type this, and I expect to have half a dozen...
As the song goes, count me in; Sesame Street doesn't normally reuse character names like that, so I wonder whether the guys at Sony Wonder weren't thinking.
I do find it eerie that Episode #666 takes place in the dark and centers on a vampiric character; it's a wonder that churches didn't protest against CTW way back when. (If any of them did, at least it never made national news!)
I didn't mean the description to sound ageist; it was just an attempt to define "classic" and "old school" without sounding too arbitrary. You're welcome to read, trade, and comment there, too: if you can suggest a better way to word my description, please post it here and I'll consider it (as...
If you'd like reading/commenting in a blog like this, have I got a link for you! :)
"A place to share memories, clips, and other great stuff related to 'Old School" Sesame Street. (If Jim Henson died before you were born; if 'Elmo's World' has always been part of the show you remember; or...
I've just re-uploaded The Best of Episode 536; the new version includes some street scenes from the show, and all clips are higher-quality than before. (Unfortunately, one scene that I'd planned to include--Crystal playing "store" with Big Bird--was noticeably damaged in my copy of #536; that's...
I don't have the pitch reel as an uploadable file; with no DVD drive on my PC, I have no way to rip it from there. Sorry to disappoint you, though I'm sure another user might help!
I've got software that would let me convert the files to lower-quality .mp4's (which I could store on GigaSize unbroken, since each episode would be about 100 megabytes). That would take a couple of days, though; and the program tends to "lose" the last few seconds of converted files. Would...
I have very vague memories of the New Mexico episodes, but the "We're Going Home" song at the end does stand out in my mind. If I had some way to watch it online, I'd give almost anything for that week of episodes. (With no VCR and no DVD drive on this machine, though, my options are limited...
StuffIt would be your best bet, then; it can open .rar files, it has always come in a Mac-friendly version, and there's a freeware release available if all you want to do is "unstuff" (open) files. Hope that helps!
I can answer only two of your questions, but I hope they still help:
The camp where Grover works is called "Wannagohoma" with an "a", judging by the sign that appears in those skits. I can see how you might get confused, though, since the Anything Muppet kids don't pronounce the last "a"...
On another note, I've updated the "Best of Episode 276" clip collection; all the clips should have sound now, and I've added a few more street scenes as well.
I just answered your PM; only one of the episodes I uploaded (#1) is missing, so I've sent you the other twelve links while I straighten that problem out.
