Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

You may be thinking of Feet. Or maybe it was a rerun from an older season; I haven't been keeping up with those. Although I almost mis-parsed the question as "earlier than this year" rather than "earlier this year", which would have been obvious from the use of Mr. Noodle's brother.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

I must have missed that segment; the only number one songs I saw were Miles' number with a chicken and a penguin and that old "Blowin' in the Wind" parody cartoon.

The Stars of Today's Sesame Street

Okay, ten episodes into the season my wholly unofficial, not-guaranteed counts so far are: 10 episodes: Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, Elmo Monster, Murray Monster 9 episodes: Count von Count 8 episodes: Slimey, Mr. Noodle 7 episodes: Grover, Oscar, Gordon (including once as a cartoon) 6...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

Don't get your hopes up too much. I reviewed the tape, and for Kermit himself they still had the outdated copyright notice.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

Definitely recycled. The differences in the setting were almost jarring. Big Bird's doors, Gina's office door, the stairs above Gina's office...quite obvious. At least I didn't notice any differences in Maria's wardrobe. And I agree that Grover's card trick ranks with some of his best stuff.

You know something still bugs me about Oscar...

Sometimes. Caroll Spinney is still quite active as well.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

At first I didn't like it that much, but now it's okay. It's just different is all (not so different that you can't recognize it, for those who for whatever reason may not have heard it yet, but in a different style).

Am I the only one who didn't like the Calypso Theme Song?

It's hip, it's now, it's starting to grow on me. And thank goodness they waited until the heavy metal era was over before making anything hip and now. Now that I listen to it, it doesn't really veer any further away from the melody than the classic harmonica theme did.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

He was there; it's just that his appearance was brief. And as for the other classic characters...I don't think they would go through the trouble of putting them in a brand-new opening sequence if they weren't planning on using them at some point in the season. As for Big Bird's gradual...

Am I the only one who didn't like the Calypso Theme Song?

At least it's not as bad as I had feared...At least you can recognize the tune (once they actually get to the tune). At first I didn't really like it, but after hearing it a few times, it's starting to grow on me.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 38

I was expecting more characters in a season premiere, but I'm sure they'll show up later in the season. I rather liked the visual style of the opening and closing, and the music in the closing. Not terribly fond of the opening music, but that's just my personal taste. Nonetheless, I only...

    "Follow That Bird"

And what Gordon should have said: "You've spent the whole movie running away, hitching rides with strangers, and saying "ain't" (as part of a double negative, no less), and NOW you're giving a safety lecture?" ;)

What's Around the Corner from the Fix- It Shop?

Books, magazines, movies, the theme park...The data are so wildly inconsistent from one source to the next, I don't think we'll ever know.

Well, it´s still early, and we´re getting this information second- or third- hand. Wait and see.

    Sesame Street Season 38 Preview

For all we know the reported CGI set pieces may just be a few extra stories on the buildings, a few intersections, and things like that that are so common in movies nowadays. For all we know, the set may look more realistic after the CGI elements are in place. Until we get word from Sesame...

How is just "Sesame" enough to know one means Sesame Street?

When was the last time you heard of books, toys, live shows, etc. about the seeds on a hamburger bun?

Does This Big Bird scare you?

Looks to me like a difference in lighting, rather than a difference in the costume.

The Stars of Today's Sesame Street

If you look at the group shot of the Muppet cast at the end of the funding credits (taken from the "Friends" segment of Elmo's World) and add Oscar (and maybe Slimey and Snuffy), that should give you a good idea who the stars are. That said, some are more likely to appear in their own...

    Sesame Street Season 38 Preview

Actually, they do use such a version; the extra is just cut out when they rebroadcast episodes from previous seasons (slightly longer funding credits this year?)
