Help with Attaching Bodies to Puppet Heads

http://www.projectpuppet.com/servlet/-strse-19/Simple-Series-Alternate-Body/Detail The "Alternate Body Pattern" is great for most basic puppet heads and can be sized/adjusted to accommodate your need. At $15 it is a great investment to give you an idea of the basics that you can use develop you...

You're Kermit's mouth looks great! And thanks Kumakami :) I have to add some pics of the completed project to that folder.

    Fraggle-ish Muppets

I go with a simple whip stitch on the "wrong" side (puppet turned inside out). The trick (for me) is to maintain even tension/spacing between stitches and to the edge of the fabric. Also I do not try to go all the way around in one shot. For a smaller mouth I do it in halves. Top to bottom on...

    Heat/Hot-Air Gun?

I noticed in many Henson workshop photos the prescence of heat or hot-air guns at the builder's workstations. Does anyone know what these might have been used for? My first thought was they could be used when working with Wonderflex, but I am not sure how long that material has been around. Thought?

    Boiling "Punky Muppet" fur

I just got my swatches from Mendel's and so far I am digging the "Olive" punky muppet which, if one boiled, would look decidedly "grouch-ish" ;)

    The most tear-jerking Muppet moment...

That makes sense, but the lyric is "staccato". However, it IS Dr. Teeth and part of his shtick is taking grammatical liberties. Lol.

    The most tear-jerking Muppet moment...

"Pictures in My Head" from The Muppets. "This Staccato tune is most 'posolutely and transparently bringin' me down!" ~:D

    A body for Fred?

This is Fred Felton. Fred is a head. He was made using the Project Puppet "Rotondo" pattern and is my very 1st attempt (other than a few "sock" puppets). His head is constructed of reticulated foam, which I regret wasting on a prototype. I was smart enough not to use my stockpile of Antron...

    Len Frog

Thanks! Just plain old polar fleece. I have 6yrds of Antron I'm too scared to use until I practice some more ( this is only my 2nd attempt at a foam based puppet).

    Len Frog

Hello. First time caller, long time listener <read "Lurker">. This is a completed head for a frog character. I am still figuring out what I want to do with the body. I started with www.projectpuppet.com 's "Rotondo" pattern. I did not originally have a frog in mind, but when I was making the...

    Fraggle-ish Muppets

Nice work. For Muppet style puppets, I prefer a solid black pupil. But this definitely makes me think "Fraggle".

    Boiling "Punky Muppet" fur

I am definitely going with Punky Muppet for an upcoming project, but I can not find a clear method of boiling it. How long? Water to fabric ratio? Stir? Carrots, celery or onions?
