New Members: Please Post and Introduce Yourself

Greetings from Dublin, Ireland. Was a big 'Muppet Show' fan in my youth, lost interest during my teenage years ( as teenagers normally do ) but have subsequently rediscovered the work of Jim Henson via the MS DVD sets. Bought the first season back in 2008 when I saw it discounted in a store and...

    Your Thoughts on Fletcherbird.

Well, there's always that very brief glimpse of Big Bird snuggled up against Mean Mamma in the closing shot of 'The Muppet Movie' :zany: Seeing Fletcher with Big Bird in the Leslie Uggams episode would have been a joy, yes... although as to how Gonzo would have reacted we'll never know! Two...

    Your Thoughts: The StoryTeller

While the Greek Myths aren't quite as good as the earlier episodes, they're still utterly superb. Michael Gambon makes for a fine substitute to John Hurt and I particularly like the Icarus episode. The Gorgon one is also great, which tells the same story as 'Clash of the Titans' in a quarter of...

    Your Thoughts on Fletcherbird.

I suppose I can see why someone might think that as they're somewhat similar in size and appearance. Fletcher has a more 'tropical' look than Big Bird, though, and he has a much longer beak. But as you say, both are large birds made by the same company, so there's always going to be comparisons...

    New Video: "Stand By Me"

That's fantastic! It's the loud 'thump' as he hits the rabbits that does it :) I've watched it about 7 times so far. Love it!

    Your Thoughts: The StoryTeller

I picked up the DVDs of 'The Storyteller' last year ( imported them from Germany as they were deleted at home ) and I was wonderfully impressed by the overall quality of the episodes. Aside from some great performances, not least of which was John Hurt as The Storyteller himself, the creature...

    Mirror Mask

I remember buying this movie as a 'blind buy' a couple of years back. While I found it resonably entertaining, I'd have to say I was disappointed by the high level of CGI. While I'll accept that CGI is part and parcel of pretty much any modern fantasy movie, part of me was hoping for a lot of...

    Your Thoughts on Fletcherbird.

Maybe an odd choice, but Fletcher Bird is probably my favourite of the full-bodied muppets. I’ve always liked Henson’s bird creations ( chickens, ducks, whatdayasay bird etc… ) but Fletcher is my personal fav for a couple of reasons. One, the suit is fantastically fun, cute and colourful and...
