Muppet Annuals and the pics within.

I recently found the first two Muppet annuals in a used bookstore here in Dublin. While the text is slight, some of the pictures are absolutely wonderful and there's a lot of great shots I've never seen anywhere else. I particularly liked the nice photos of Fletcherbird and the Muppet monsters...

Oh Where, Oh Where has my Muppets gone?

It makes me wonder... If the makers of the new movie wanted some obscure characters ( such as Thog ) to cameo, but at the same time didn't want the expense of rebuilding the suits... would it be 'right' to recreate them in CGI? More to the point, would that be considered heresy to Henson fans...

Is 'Of Muppets & Men' worth the money?

Heh - if anyone happens to have found $1000 down the back of the sofa, there's a Jim Henson signed copy on Ebay right now. Link's not working, but if you do a search you'll find it.

    Hugga Wugga or Sclrap Flyapp?

You must face your fear. Hugga is not so bad - he just wants a hug. :)

Muppet Show Guest Stars We'd Like to See

As a 'Doctor Who' fan, I would have loved Tom Baker to have been a guest back in the 70s. He's mad as a box of frogs. :) Actually, he'd still be great on it.

    Extinct Muppets?

And by 'extinct', I mean 'no longer in existence'. Just curious if anyone has a definite list of which Muppets still exist and which ones have decayed/fallen into extreme disrepair? I'm particularly interested in the fate of the full-bodied suits. Sweetums - still active, although I assume...

    TBOTMS vs. Season Sets

Well, C3PO & R2D2 appeared on the '40 Years of Sesame Street' DVD set without any problems, so I'm guessing the 'Star Wars' ep of TMS won't be an issue. Have to admit I'm tempted to buy some of those TBOTMS discs, given the long wait for the season 4 set...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street 40 Years DVD Box Set

I picked up this set over the weekend. As I stopped watching 'Sesame Street' around the early 90s, it's the first disc that contains most of the 'wow - I remember that!' moments for me. Completely forgot about The Mad Painter until I saw that '5' skit with the gorilla. The background music gave...

Is 'Of Muppets & Men' worth the money?

Always worth getting a second copy, especially if the money will go to a good cause :) I never bought 'The Works' myself, mainly because it's stocked in the library where I work and I can borrow it anytime I want. The tragic thing is, when you exclude my borrowings from the equation, the book...

    Oscar in Co. Mayo, Ireland

Found this on Youtube, thought it was quite charming. Caroll Spinney and Oscar attend a school play in Cong, Co. Mayo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUwI0flsR1Q At the end he says "Sesame Street is coming to Ireland", which must be a reference to the Northern Irish 'Sesame Tree' show. The...

The Muppet Show on BBC1 in the 80's?

You know, I distinctly remember watching that Julie Andrews episode on the BBC... but '86? Wow, doesn't seem like almost 24 years ago at all. That's actually quite scary.

Is 'Of Muppets & Men' worth the money?

Well, to answer my own question, yes! My copy arrived yesterday after a slightly longer wait than I expected - a mail slowdown caused by that pesky volcanic ash cloud. The book is in better condition than the Ebay seller described, just the odd little mark here and there and what looks like an...

    Muppets with Tails...

I know that Doglion has a little one ( you get a good look at it during the 'Beautiful Day' sketch ) and Timmy Monster has one too... well, the later version of him anyway. Most of the bird characters have tails - Big Bird, Fletcher, Betsy, Whatdayasay Bird etc... Sam probably has one too. Rizzo...

What was the last Henson thing you bought?

Last Friday I bought the DVD of 'Muppet Treasure Island'. Also bought the book 'Of Muppets & Men' from a seller on Ebay, but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet.

    The evolution of Timmy Monster

I was watching a few episodes from season two this week and I was struck by just how much Timmy Monster's design changed between the Bernadette Peters ep and the Julie Andrews one. A new facial look, plus the addition of a tail. That's some serious plastic surgery going on there! :) But then...

The Muppet Show on BBC1 in the 80's?

Heh, speaking of 'Muppet Show' reruns, I remember around 2004 or thereabouts, Irish tv channel TG4 ( possibly available in the UK if you live in Northern Ireland or Wales ) showed a lot of episodes. Not sure if they showed the whole run or not, but I didn't watch them. This was mainly because as...

Muppet Show Season 4 coming in 2013

Yeah, 'The Muppet Show' was shot on 2 inch PAL videotape, so a hi-def transfer wouldn't improve the picture quality to any serious degree ( perhaps only just slightly to a viewer used to watching NTSC conversions ). On the other hand, the various Muppet movies, having been shot on film, would...

Muppet Show Season 4 coming in 2013

Have thought about doing that myself... but so far have held off. If season 4 doesn't appear soon I may not be able to help myself... :)

Original TMS Zoot Ending Found on YouTube!

It's strange that a mere logo could do this... but seeing that just gave me a serious nostalgia buzz. Just for an instant I was 5 years old again :)

Is 'Of Muppets & Men' worth the money?

I'll have to admit that the cost of postage was... considerable. "It's a very large book," they said. Oh well... :) But I'm sure there's going to be another new fan along soon enough who'll only be too happy to take that second copy off your hands. Always new people discovering The Muppets!
