    Puppet Hub

I went there and found many familiar faces. 4 years ago when I joined Muppet Central I looked around and found very little on puppet building. Now I feel that there are too many options. I have already joined several forums, and sometimes i don't have the time to check all of them. For some...

    CGI vs Puppetry

I believe that the key to good CGI is that it doesn't attract attention to itself, but yet the great majority of recent productions are signaling a big "Hey look where We've spent our big budget!". Look, for example, at the trailers of the upcoming "speed racer" movie, where you wonder if it is...

    Other puppet shows you watched

I remember the occasional walking can or dancing jar of mayonnaise in that show. But I think that those Krofft productions were more costume than puppets. AH! and I forgot, you probably didn't hear much of him, but if you were in Italy, Latin-America or Japan there was always Topo Gigio...

    Other puppet shows you watched

Well, now that you have resurrected this old thread, I am surprised that nobody mentioned Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the other supermarionation shows. I saw them on reruns, wasn't a big fan, actually, they used to scare me a bit for the realism of the faces. Are these not considered...

Need help for avenue q puppets replicas

I think you should use a lighter shade on KM otherwise you won´t be satisfied with the final result, I believe, because you probably won't like to put KM & TM together looking like relatives.

Need help for avenue q puppets replicas

Hey Lab Rat, I ran into this page of one special production of Avenue Q http://avenueqtwells.moonfruit.com/#/media/4527385039 Is that the production you are building the puppets for? Well maybe you are not allowed to say, but your descriptions fit on that. But wait a minute, wait a...

Thanks Ravage, I'll try that... "...puppetry isn't about comfort" Ha ha ha. I´m not complaining, :) I guess my arm is strong enough. Although the girl that puppeteers it does. I wish i could tell her that but i am afraid i will end up with the puppet in my head...

    Avenue Q Sweden puppet workshop

Oh I see. One question. I made a puppet that uses a long hair wig on, a lot like Lucy in this video, but the wig is too heavy and tends to deform the head (which was also made in foam with a pattern and is hollow). What do you do to avoid this?

    Avenue Q Sweden puppet workshop

That's interesting: they put the wig before the skin on the puppet. I guess that would take a bit of weight out of the puppet. I wish i would have seen this a few months ago. A puppet with a wig. it is a bit heavy. By the way I think that these same puppets will be used in The French...

link no longer available AV. Q stand in puppets Sorry for that. I am new to Youtube and didn't know how to save a link for future reference. As expected the videos posted above were short-lived. Now that the cast got their brand new puppets the ones with the stand in puppets were deleted...

Hey Darkranth. Its still only foam, but I think that you achieved the likeness of Trekkie just perfectly. Just be aware that it could grow very large after you put the fake fur on it.

    More on Avenue Q Mexico

I thought this might be interesting. The Mexican production of Avenue Q posted this series of videos with the "stand in" puppets that Rick Lyon left while he was finishing the actual stage puppets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glYz5seRB_0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMmDlW3Bpvo...

Congratulations Lab-rat He is quite different actually.Takes a little to get accostumed to that. I think the original Rod was trying to be reminiscent of Bert (slightly in shape and mannerisms). It´s like if a completely different actor would be playing the part. But if that is the case with...

    Puppet Scars

Ha ha ha,:) I struggle to make my stitches not to look like scars... Try making a ladder stitch, without pulling, using yarn or a thick thread. First do a long line --------- and then perpendicular smaller lines like this -|-|-|-|-|-|-|-. maybe the long one with a color similar to your...

    The Hand Glove Pattern/ Help

use your hand Just use your hand and draw a silhouette around. Leave some space for sewing. Put some fingers together if you want a 4 finger glove. I used a glove pattern once with extra pieces for the thumb, and between the fingers. Its much more work and you won't notice the difference...

    Avenue Q Mexico: with Abelardo?

Hey, Rick Lyon apparently has confirmed that he is making the puppets for the Mexican production on this forum: http://www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?page=2&thread=955383&boardid=1 He also clarifies: "...I had nothing to do with the productions in Israel or the Philippines...
