The animated openings of Sesame Street

I guess as a lot of people here may already know, this cartoon appears on a Fisher-Price movie cartridge from 1973 called "On My Way To Sesame Street". Another one with a gong appears on "Shapes"..... if I remember properly. Thanks to eBay, you can probably find these being auctioned - if...

    The Count needs help!

That was Kevin Clash, was it? I would have thought it might have sounded like him, but this skit was on an Unpaved episode circa 1982 - two years before Kevin would be credited to being on the scene. But even when he spoke it sounded like Kevin. Maybe he was in training?

Early Camera Bert and Ernie Skit - help!

Well, I won't jump to the conclusion that there was no such skit. But I will say that it sounds to me like a few other skits. There was one with that old fashioned camera of which you described, where Ernie wanted to take a picture of 7 cupcakes on a plate. When he takes the picture it...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street Season 35

What is the episode # of the show where the celebrity guests' favorite moment was Bob singing "People in Your Neighborhood?" I heard somewhere that it was from a Season 1 clip.

J Jo Jeans & His JellyBeans Song

And of course, J Joe - Joe Raposo. :)

    The Count needs help!

Those "sleepy eyes", I love it. I wonder if Henson's people later removed the hippie wig, put on a girl's wig (changed clothes, of course) but kept the face with those sleepy eyes for an AM girl in this "11" spot. This, of course, where the AM (Fran Brill) draws an "11" on a blackboard and...

    The Classic Falling Baker Sketches

In the Unpaved book, that skit noted that the baker was just Jim Henson's voice. Anyway, Jim was sporting a beard while juggling three balls while the baker was clean shaven. And even if hypothetically, Jim did shave his beard, at that time he looked relatively thin and pale compared to the...

    Some New Herry Material

I may be wrong, but I'm going to guess that part of it has to do with whatever "health issues" were going on with Jerry Nelson in the last few years. Also, there's still the problem that there's less shows per season for him to appear in. Having said that, I seem to remember some new segment...

Looking for episodes of "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids"

They're available from Time-Life. Hope this helps.

    A You're Adorable

The AM Jim was playing was about the same color as Guy Smiley, light orange but not as orange as Adrian. In a funny way, he looked like an early version of the Guy Smiley type Muppet with live hands - kind of the way Monty would look later. Is that helpful?

What happened to all the classic clips?

Well, unfortunately, we have to remember that there are less new shows per season to put classic clips into. Seasons 34-35, which were mentioned, have only 26 shows per season, meaning every letter shown once. Luckily, it's also good to remember that a lot of classic clips do exist in...

    Should Harvey Kneeslapper come back?

Hmmm.... that's the first time I heard about that one regarding Harvey Kneeslapper. There were two reasons given in the Unpaved book: "Performed by Frank Oz, the character was chucked because he was a one-note joker, and because his constant laughing was too hard on Frank's voice." By...

Why is Bert not on Sesame Street much anymore?

Yeah, around that time, Jim and Frank were getting so involved with branching out into the Muppet Show and the Muppet Movies and Dark Crystal they probably could only donate a shorter amount of time to skit muppets. I guess that's the nature of the beast.

Why they don't show old Muppet sketches anymore

At least all four of the songs you mentioned are available in their original format on commercial VHS. "C is for Cookie", by the way, appears on four tapes.

Two questions for you Sesame fans...

That city alphabet film, in its original 70's form, does appear on the 1986 VHS "Learning About Letters". It's about the mid-point, where Big Bird is showing a baby honker that letters can be found almost anywhere. That same VHS is due to come out on DVD soon.

    Queen of Six

I think most of here remember it fondly. This was also one of Jim Henson's animated contributions. I wonder how long it takes to shoot a stop motion film like that. (But I guess since the queen wore a big gown, Henson got away with not having to animate any walking. No legs, you see. ;) )

I'd like to see the actor who plays Paulie Walnuts on "The Sopranos". Also Lorraine Bracco.

Sesame Street on ET: Identify the episode

I think I get it. The Big Bird audio about something coming from "outer space" did appear at the beginning of the first "Star Wars" episode, when the Bird so far was the first to notice that the Droids had landed behind the fence. It's been some time, but I think on ET, the audio followed was...

Who would you like to have seen as a guest on Sesame Street?

Chris Barrie, aka Rimmer on Red Dwarf. Ade Edmonson, Rik Mayall -- but probably not at the same time. :)
