I feel bad for Steve to an extent. An EXTENT.
I don't believe Disney would make up reasons for letting him go and I'm sure they did what they could to keep him around; firing the man who took over Kermit The Frog from Jim Henson I'm sure wasn't an easy decision for them. And I'm positive...
There's no way any of us could possibly know what really has gone on behind the scenes these past 27 years.
That said, it's pretty scary how some people are so determined to defend Whitmere and hold him up as the victim that they have no problem attacking one of Henson's children.
I do wish Steve and Matt well. I really do.
That said, I've having trouble caring about the direction Disney will be taking this franchise in the future. I haven't been too keen on really anything they've done in the past few years and it's become very clear now that what they want for the...
What's done is done and, although it stinks, Disney had their reasons.
They're not going to suddenly change their mind because of yet another "give us what we want!" petition on change.org. They most likely see so much of that each year that they probably don't even read them anymore.
Is it possible someone can FINALLY remove all the pinned threads for every "The Muppets" episode? This thread should really be at the top of the forum.
As far as im concerned, this could very well be the true beginning of the end for these characters. Disney has kicked to the proverbial curb the man Jim Henson himself hand picked to play Kermit. And even though Matt Vogel is a very talented man, all of this really seems like Disney is making a...
Meanwhile, Statler and Beaker have been recast before and will be recast again. And I'm sure recasting such "minor" characters as the Newman and Link isn't a priority for Disney.
Rizzo is really the only character to be truly concerned about.
Man, what is your deal, dude?
What this feels like is Disney wanting an even tighter control over the Muppet characters than they already have. And perhaps it's easier to do that when the staff of Muppeteers you're employing don't have the clout a 27 year Kermit performer and 40 year Muppet...
ANOTHER episode with Piggy battling it out with a celebrity? Really? This is really all their going to do with Piggy on this show? Make her a totally unlikable little wench?
I was kind of hoping we'd get something a little Halloween-ish tonight, like everything else ABC is airing this week.
Think back to Kermit firing Piggy on The Muppet Show, or their argument in Great Muppet Caper. Kermit had no problem talking down to Piggy ("I know all about your career, pig!") and could push her into an emotional breakdown if he really wanted to. That side of Kermit has been gone for a very...
They are? Could have fooled me.
MMW made only $1 million more domestically than it cost to produce. That's not good at all. I wouldn't call that "considerably well".
I don't like when people say this, because how could anyone REALLY know how someone like Henson would feel about things like this?
Constantine and Walter are just too tailored to the movies they first appeared in to work as regular members of the Muppet gang. And yes, I included Walter in that statement because his entire backstory and character arc is contained in one film and outside of "The Muppets" he seems like such a...
