    Ziffel's 1000th and now a senior!

:D The moment has arrived at last. I now have 1000 posts and am now a senior MC member! The 61st senior member here. Thanks for everything, folks. It's a great pleasure to read and post here. I'll let Fred Ziffel close out this historic post. After all, I couldn't have done it without him...

    RIP Bob Denver

Just heard on the radio that Gilligan (Bob Denver) has died. He was 70. The Skipper (Alan Hale) died about 15 years ago at 71. As he would say to Gilligan, "Rest in peace, little buddy."

    Nfl 2005

Who's your favorite football team and who do you think will be in the Super Bowl this year? My favorite team is the Washington Redskins. I predict the Eagles vs. the Colts in the Super Bowl with the Colts winning. But wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots win it yet again. I was watching...

    Muppet taking apples

Around the mid 70's I remember a muppet (not sure eactly what kind of muppet, but think it was an anything muppet) taking apples one at a time. It was a street scene. There were five apples and he said, "Five apples take away one apple leaves four apples. Heh heh heh." Then he zipped away with...

Big Bird banned on a roof

Here's a weird story of a statue of Big Bird being ordered to be taken off someone's chimney in Wisconsin. Maybe MuppetsRule has seen this. I don't understand why some neighbors or the local authorities have a problem with Big Bird on someone's private property...

    Bert falling over backwards

When I watched the first several seasons of SS as a child it seemed like Bert falling over backwards in exasperation was a frequent close of Ernie and Bert skits. Yet now I can't think of too many where this happened. I know Bert did this in the one where Ernie leaves a cookie on the table. And...

    Large puzzles

I'm thinking about the puzzle segments where a piece at a time would appear on the screen with some cool sound effects. Then after five would appear, they would be shuffled around until they were in the proper places. Then the sixth and final piece would appear and the puzzle was complete. And...

    Chess and chess computers

I love the game of chess. I'm curious how many other chess fans there are here. My dad taught me to play when I was 8. I love playing against chess computers, too. Way back around 1980 I got a Fidelity Chess Computer and the Video Chess cartridge for the classic Atari 2600 system. Still have...

    Any Laurel and Hardy fans?

Dantecat had a thread a while ago asking if there are any "Three Stooges" fans so I thought I'd inquire about "Laurel and Hardy." I really liked this duo a lot. I'd have to give the slight edge to the Stooges because the laughs just came so constantly. But I loved "Laurel and Hardy" too. Hardy...

    Incompatable dvd

About a week ago I started to watch shows on dvd from "The Jeffersons" complete 3rd season. It comes in 3 discs and the strange thing is one disc works but the other two kept saying, "Incompatable disc. The disc is incompatable with the player." First time that ever happened to me. I emailed...

    Making shadow animals with hands

I'm not sure if these have ever been talked about here at MC. In the 70's I remember a lot of different sketches where people would put their hands in front of a light and make the shadows look like different kinds of animals. I thought they were real neat but wanted to be able to do them myself...

    Lone Ranger Muppet

Remember this early 70's skit with Simon Soundman? Simon starts by saying, "It's game time." The game might have been for the viewer to try and guess what sound he is making. I just remember he started making a sound like a horse. And then he pranced around the screen like a horse and the music...

    Kenneth Taylor

I just read that Kenneth Taylor died today at 88. He is special to me because he was the translator of The Living Bible - Paraphrased (1971). It was the first Bible I ever had (my parents got it for me one Christmas). It was a great help in getting me to both understand the Bible (since it is in...

    Ernie and a basketball

Wondering if Sesame Mike, mikebennidict or any other classic SS fans with great memories knows any details of an early 70's Ernie and Bert skit with a basketball. The skit was listed as "Ernie puts the basketball away" in another thread. It's one skit of Ernie and Bert I saw but recall virtually...

    big Bigger BIGGEST

Thought of a couple old SS that demonstrated big, bigger and biggest. One had three anything monster muppets. The first said of himself, "Big!" Then he laughed heh heh heh. The second one said of himself, "Bigger!" and then laughed even more sinisterly. But then the third one came on the scene...

A couple of skits with anything muppets

I thought of a couple of sketches that both had anything muppets. The first one had a muppet pumping gas at a gas station. A muppet pulls up and asks to have his car filled up. Meanwhile another customer comes (off camera) and the attendant fills up their car with gas in about five seconds...

    Dr. Maria

There was a sketch from the early to mid 70's I remember seeing several times back then that had about 5 or 6 adults from Sesame Street. I'm pretty sure it was Maria who played a surgeon. Luis was one of her assistants. Not sure who the other assistants were, but most likely were Bob, David...

    Wisdom teeth

I'm having my wisdom teeth removed Thursday morning at 9am. If you would, please say a little prayer that it goes well and that the pain and discomfort afterwards won't be TOO bad! Thank you! :)

    Luis and Maria sketch

I remember a sketch with Luis and Maria that I would estimate debuted in 1976 or 1977. But I don't think Luis played himself in this sketch. The man played by Luis has something in a bag. He asks Maria to try to guess what's in the bag. She tells him she can't guess because it could be one of...
