The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

So... ...it appears that critics have trashed The Emoji Movie. Granted, I was expecting it to be bad... ...but not to get that level of negative reception.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Oh, this was posted last week and I would like to see what you guys think of it: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/animal-crackers-trailer-emily-blunt-john-krasinski-inherit-a-magical-circus-1019327

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Not to mention a small-time distributor giving it a "sort of" wide release of about 1000 theaters. Oh, and that's nothing compared to their next film Charming, i.e. a Shrek/Tangled wannabe several years too late.

Apparently. Just when we thought John H. Williams gave up... oh wait, there was Get Squirrely before this.

Oh, I think you should see this: Who's willing to take bets it might be a dud at the box office?

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I think it has a better chance at success because the only real competition it'll have is The Lego Ninjago Movie coming out a couple weeks before. Personally, I'd be more eager for Animal Crackers earlier that month... ...if they actually bother to deliver on that release date. Considering it...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Well, Spark is no longer playing at cinemas in America. Open Road just gave up after two weeks. Wow. You'd think that with a film from the studio behind The Nut Job on their hands, the distributor would try to wring more cash out of them... ...but not in this case. I don't know how much it...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Well, it's worth mentioning that its distributor is owned by two of America's biggest cinema chains, Regal and AMC. I wouldn't be surprised if many of their theaters were among the only ones showing it by proxy.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Scratch that, Spark was released yesterday, but it's only playing at 365 theatres in the States... ...and, shocker of shocks, it wasn't screened for critics.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I've been checking recently, and it turns out that I couldn't find showtimes for Spark on some cinema chain sites (mind you, I checked Cineplex, AMC and Carmike) nor could I find any info on the site for its Canadian distributor Entertainment One. Meanwhile, its US distributor's website, the...

Finally, a well-known animation critic on the Internet reviewed Believe in Santa!

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Ugh. Makes use of a few modern trailer cliches (pounding beat and cuts to black before sudden loud scenes)... ...and this is for yet another Cars movie! Sheesh.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Sorry to derail the subject here, but (once again, on the off chance that some people here haven't yet noticed) both The Secret Life of Pets and Sausage Party, of all films, are being considered for the Oscars. Then again, the Oscars infamously haven't always been kind to animated films (*cough...

Oh, and here's a film that (despite coming out just yesterday) I did not know about until I was on Cartoon Brew that day. http://www.cartoonbrew.com/feature-film/disney-will-release-ozzy-spain-tomorrow-143862.html Needless to say, it doesn't look good.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I've been hearing some negative response to the news that Disney is doing a remake of The Lion King. Me, I've been hearing about the positive reception to Disney's remakes since last year, so I'm not too certain that it'll go over badly.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I know, right? Oh, and according to the TV Tropes for Richard Rich, he apparently keeps making Swan Princess sequels because "he just loves writing stories about Odette and Derek". Oh, and apparently he's not fond of the third Swan Princess movie for some reason (oh yeah, and there were...

I see. Also, I can't help but wonder if perhaps he's the antithesis to Don Bluth.

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Well... to be honest, I find what I know about Richard Rich's career kind of interesting, to say the least. I mean, the guy is notable for directing animated films without having ever actually worked as an animator. In fact, I believe he worked his way up to a job as an assistant director from...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Indeed. That, combined with the fact that it appears to be a cliche "origin story" movie, and I'm positive very few people will even know about it, let alone see it come the release date. Well, apart from anyone going to watch it out of morbid curiosity if it turns out bad. I could say it...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

I know this is hardly a good place to talk about it, but I just saw the new trailer for the live-action Max Steel movie coming in October. To be fair, it does have some CGI in it (obviously), but not really a whole lot better than your typical Hollywood blockbuster. Lastly, I'm not really...
