15 Years after EM.TV buys the Muppets, Sesame Street and The Jim Henson Company

I notice the title of the thread has been changed, which is fine. Although EM.TV didn't buy "Sesame Street," it bought The Jim Henson Company, and in turn The Muppets and the Muppets of Sesame Street. Heck, "EM.TV: 15 Years Later" would have sufficed. :)

15 Years after EM.TV buys the Muppets, Sesame Street and The Jim Henson Company

The Sesame Street Muppets were included in the EM.TV deal. It was EM.TV who sold them off in late 2000 to Sesame Workshop to raise some cash. Thanks to EM.TV, Henson's primary role in Sesame Street nowadays is basically just building the puppets.

15 Years after EM.TV buys the Muppets, Sesame Street and The Jim Henson Company

Not sure if this goes under "Henson People," but in any case, it was fifteen years ago today (or yesterday by the time I post this), on February 21, 2000, that the Henson family sold the entirety of The Jim Henson Company to EM.TV & Merchandising AG of Munich, Germany. I was only fourteen at the...

JHC a former shell of its former self now adays?

Well, it's tough. Henson has always been "The Muppets" and then "everything else." "The Muppets" was just another term of "The Jim Henson Company," just as the "Mouse" is a term for Disney. When Disney planned to buy it in 1990 or when EM.TV bought it in 2000 or when the other companies wanted...

Your Thoughts: "Jim Henson: The Biography" by Brian Jay Jones

First off, my 1st post on this forum in God-knows-how-many years. '07 I guess it was. Been gone so long I'm a "New Member." Anyway! Jim and Lord Grade were friends. They got along splendidly. It was after the big 3 American networks passed on The Muppet Show that Lord Grade, impressed with the...

Avenue Q on Fox News' Red Eye

Hidy-ho. So there's a show on Fox News every night at 2am called "Red Eye," where they have panelists discuss various things with weird comments. Anyway, tonight they are supposed to, according to last night's show, have puppets from "Avenue Q" to take part in the weird discussions. In...

VCR Alert: Kermit on "The Climate Code" (1/7/07)

Heidi Cullen (host): "Is this your car?" Kermit (sitting on top of a car): "Well, this is not my personal car, but I certainly do have an affinity for these Ford Escape Hybrids.”

ANOTHER Late Notice: Kermit on Fox News' "The Live Desk" 12/8/06

Speaking of LATE notices, Kermit was on Fox News Channel Friday afternoon during the 1pm hour on a show called "The Live Desk." I was flipping through and caught about only two minutes of the interview. Luckily, I recorded it and some of the highlights--that I saw--included: Kermit, as an...

    Remembering 9/11

My 1200th message. But way more importantly, I would also like to give my thoughts to prayers to those affected by the tragedy of five years ago today. Five years. Man, I remember waiting for the first-year anniversary. I've been watching a lot of 9/11 documentaries lately and those horrible...

    ELMO on "Today" Show 9-6-05

I saw the interview, recorded it. So you're angry that he didn't merely mention that Elmo is a Muppet OR the name Jim Henson? Big deal! We know Elmo's "a Muppet," Kevin knows Elmo's "a Muppet," frickin' Matt Lauer knows that Elmo's "a Muppet," whether Disney/Sesame owns the name or not. Geez, I...

    Tough Pigs no longer?

I hope it ain't done. TP hasn't been updated since Dec., because Danny and some of 'em have been working on Muppet Wiki (which is awesome by the way). But I still like to go there every now and then. Hopefully it's just one of them "things". :)

    Muppets @ WDW on YouTube!!

Dang, this must be THE original airing, 'cause it has the Eisner opening with Fozzie & Co. that I have never seen before but have heard about. It's also cool seeing the old "Magical World of Disney" opening sequence. I last saw the special about a decade ago on Disney Channel. And hopefully...

    Kermit and Steve on GMA!

I saw it. I had no clue he was comin' on, but I saw it. Basically, Kermit came about ten minutes into the second hour. Charlie was with his family--his wife, two daughters, grandchild, and "honorary son," Kermit, who was behind a couch. They all chatted up for a few minutes about this and...
