All episodes are now accounted for with the possible exception of 'Manny's Land of Carpets'. We *may* have a recording of it, but it's not yet known if it can be salvaged - it was on a tape with an advanced case of mould growth, and may or may not be...
More or less, yes.
There's one episode which I'm not sure about (Gobo's School for Explorers - we definitely have the second and third inserts, but I think the first one is still missing), and it's not yet clear which of the other episodes are beyond recovery.
We definitely have the majority...
Oh, I know where the screengrab came from - I made it, years ago! It's just the last frame of the DVD with an ITC logo added to it. It's intended to be a representation of what the shot (probably) looked like.
The actual video hasn't surfaced so far as I know.
Interesting...but [citation needed], I think! It seems slightly odd that they went to the trouble of recording the entire closing theme sequence with an orchestra full of Beakers, but omitted to do the final shot.
I notice that the page also has a screengrab for the end of the Dudley Moore...
Done a long time ago. He only had a couple of episodes, both of which were already known to exist at the time.
Victor sadly passed away last month, incidentally.
We don't know! I am making enquiries.
On the subject of which, while I understand people would like to help, can I request that you please leave matters with the professionals and don't go contacting Maidstone (or anywhere else) yourself. If there's anything to be found it will be best...
They didn't create it. Maidstone Studios, the company that exists today, is not related to TVS, the studio which produced the UK version of the show. It just uses their former buildings.
There's a short clip from 'Beginnings' in the 'Down at Fraggle Rock' documentary - is that what you've seen?
Regarding posting of this - or any other episode - on YT, DailyMotion or anywhere else: neither I nor the people who have turned up recordings of these episodes are the copyright-holders...
And we have another find!
'Beginnings', 'You Can't Do That Without a Hat', 'The Thirty-Minute Work Week' and 'I Don't Care' have all been found on VHS.
9 to go...
Thanks for that :-) I haven't heard anything yet.
We are interested in *any* recordings, though - even if they're of episodes which are already known to exist, as a lot of the recordings are not great.
So-so. It's an off-air recording, originally VHS but it's been through a few adventures since then and now only survives as a computer file. It's over-compressed but not massively so.
Got another one! A copy of Wonder Mountain has been located, bringing us down to just 13 still missing.
To answer the previous poster - sorry, I seem to have completely missed the post! - yes, we have contacted Victor Pemberton about the possibility that he might still have recordings. I...
The Columbia release was in 2004, which I think makes it one of the last Muppet titles they released before losing (or not renewing) the license.
12 of the broadcast episodes have been released on DVD, several times. The 17 the BFI have, while broadcast-quality, are not the original...
I don't know anything about HIT's involvement; the original UK DVD release was from Columbia Tristar, which was when we learnt that only 12 episodes could be found.
The shows I locate are sent to Kaleidoscope, who will pass them onto the National Film Archive. And yes, I'm always on the...
News!
Another 15 episodes have been recovered! They're all off-air recordings, and most are missing their opening and/or closing titles with a few also missing a few seconds from the opening/closing scenes, but they are substantially complete. The titles are:
