How's the weather where you are?

Oh no, that means a heat wave is headed here soon if it's in your state today, Red! Today here it's a not too bad 83 and sunshine. But tomorrow and Monday here comes the number 90 again sure enough! The extended outlook shows back to the low to mid 80's for Wednesday thru Friday, though. Yay!

    Favorite Animal Films

There was also the neat underwater film of an octopus where we saw it and its eight arms up close. Nice dramatic music too. A guy at the beginning of the film shouts, "Octopus!" Not sure if it was Luis, but sounded like it could have been his voice. Side trivia question: How many arms does a...

Enjoy talking baseball with you too, Docnzhoss. And very nice post. I noticed in the All Star Game roster for this Tuesday that the last place Philadelphia Phillies have 3 guys total vs. 2 for both the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves who are in first and second place in that division...

    BIG week coming up!

Wow that's such a great surprise for them. And interestingly, my parents divorced in 1983, but this month would have also been their 40th anniversary too. And are you going to NYCity or upstate NY? I used to live in upstate NY. Have a great time!

Congrats on being an assistant moderator at that forum, Katzi. And nothing wrong with sounding like Mr. Rogers. :) My first post in this thread also said how everyone is special here and I quoted his great line, "You make every day special. You know how, don't you? By just your being you!"...

    Up, Up and Away

You got it. :) Pretty neat how SS used a lot of the song and showed the visual of the air balloon going up up and away. Though I'm sure certain lyrics like, "If you'll hold my hand we'll chase your dream across the sky" were not used in the SS version! Since I saw the SS skit a lot of...

    Shari Lewis & Lambchop visit

Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop reminds me of a ventriloquist team I loved a great deal - Willie and Lester. Lester was a black dummy with glasses who had very funny wise cracks to comedian Willie Tyler who operated him. They guested on an episode of "The Jeffersons" once too! :)

    Funniest SS Moment

Is that the one where at the end Grover is in the phone booth by himself and the phone rings and Grover answers it and says, "Um, I don't think so. But I'll check." Then he sticks his head out of the booth and asks, "Is there anyone here named (Monteque? Something that begins with m anyhow!)"...

    Funniest SS Moment

I see what you're saying, mike. But I guess a funniest SS moment could technically come from any year 1969-2005 and some younger users might only have the recent ones to go by. But yeah for me you're certainly going to see the OLD stuff! (though I can give examples of newer funny things too...

    Funniest SS Moment

Hee hee hee, see what I mean, SillyRed? Hard to just stop at one funniest moment isn't it. There are just so many to appreciate and laugh about. I posted on another thread once how extremely funny I thought the skit with Ernie counting to 10 and continually starting over was. And that John John...

Well Princeton, at least you're getting good feedback from others now. For me, it also goes along with the other aspect here that I feel like a failure. And that's the frequent lack of responses to my posts. Again, comparatively speaking. Right now it was as if you were the only one who vented...

    Paul Benedict

I thought of this one segment that I'm wondering if it was Paul Benedict. There was some music for about 30-45 seconds. Then this tall dark haired guy points to himself and says, "Me." "Me." "Me." And the final time he says it, it's really drawn out, "Meeeeeeeee!". It was outside and the letters...

    Fave user?

Warning: Venting post part 2 I hear you, Princeton. A thread like this can definitely hurt a lot of people's feelings. While I also appreciate being mentioned occasionally on some lists, to see the same people mentioned over and over again does tend to foster feelings of failure and...

    Funniest SS Moment

Boy that's hard. I've enjoyed citing my funniest SS moment or moments of individual muppets (like Ernie saying, "I lost my air! , Cookie Monster saying, "When do me start?" after Guy Smiley already said, "On your mark, get set, Go!" , and one by Grover that I just quoted a little while ago, "Oh...

    Up, Up and Away

The "up up and away" skit was very well done. I always loved when this one came on. I also didn't know until I was a teen that this song preceded SS (by The Fifth Dimension). I always liked the line, "The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon." How very true! (Well, not for this muppet...

How's the weather where you are?

Yeah I hope Dennis doesn't bother Florida too much, Katzi. I heard it was affecting parts of Florida with some rain (when I was driving home from work about an hour ago. And I they said Dennis is at winds of 145mph that is hitting at Cuba now. Yikes!) Here in Philadelphia today it rained very...

Fat Blue and Sam the Soundman

That's pretty interesting. I remember him mentioning his brother. But I recall him saying, "I don't know why my brother recommended this place, the service is terrible." And the bacon and egg sketch is probably my favorite of these restaurant skits. Loved that part so much where he says, "Uh...

    Your Favorite Guy Smiley Moments...

Just came across some pics of this "What's my part?" nose skit at this link: http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/4439/wmlwmp.html Also, the link mentions that TV Guide listed Guy Smiley as the ninth best game show host of all time! I remember seeing that in TV Guide too, probably about...

Fat Blue and Sam the Soundman

Yeah there are those physical feature differences between Fat Blue and Simon Soundman, as noted in this thread. And I've seen them listed as two distinct characters in a lot of SS sites. But I can see where some would wonder if they are the same character. It's especially interesting that both...
