Unearthing previously "lost" Sesame Street episodes

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but they have recently updated some of the guides for episodes that have already been in the trade circulation for awhile. That is, they got clean copies of the episodes. Some of these episodes are 1836, 2226, 2486, 2876, 3006, 3010, 3136 and 3140. So I'm not...

    Gabi & Miles

Do you realize this thread is now 14 years old and they’re no longer on the show? Anyway, I remember thinking that same thing.

HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

That's exactly what I just found out. The episodes from 27-29 and 31-33 have always been on HBO (well, since SS premiered on there). I just hope HBO Max will be better than this. I wonder if this is what they're talking about...

HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

You mean episodes that weren’t on HBO before? I’ll have to check this out. Exactly how much does it cost, and how many episodes do they have? Could I see a list?

HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

You do make a good point. However, most of the classic episodes released on iTunes, Amazon, and Netflix, etc. were not that significant. I’m still not entirely sure why they chose some of those episodes. The earliest season they currently have on HBO that isn’t considered “classic” is season 41...

HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

I just spoke to someone at HBO on the phone yesterday to ask about this, but unfortunately they didn’t seem to be of much help. This was a phone number I got off the press release. They said it probably wasn’t the right number, and so I asked “what is?” And the guy basically told me he doesn’t...

    Classic Sesame Clips on YouTube

Has anyone here noticed that it's been quite a while since anything has been uploaded to the official Sesame Street YouTube channel? There was just something yesterday, but it was the first thing since before Christmas. What do you think the reason for this is? I wonder if it could be in prep...

    Remembering Caroll Spinney (December 26, 1933-December 8, 2019)

I think a lot of us are.

    Remembering Caroll Spinney (December 26, 1933-December 8, 2019)

Well, I knew the time would come pretty soon and I'm pretty sure you all did too, but it has finally happened. Carroll Spinney has died. The man behind Big Bird and Oscar for 50 years who has touched so many generations. I am like completely devastated. The only good thing I have to say is that...

Unearthing previously "lost" Sesame Street episodes

I think "on-site" just means that it won't be available online, and you would have to go there to see the episodes. That's the impression that I got, anyway. I didn't see anywhere that you have to be a DC resident. Though it might just be more expensive if you're not.

Did someone actually tell you that, or did you read that somewhere? If so, who and where?

Unearthing previously "lost" Sesame Street episodes

Did you notice the part that said "and the public???" That's kind of why I thought it would be available to the public. And I mean it's possible that the woman you talked to didn't know anything. I do remember talking to someone at WGBH back in February, and they didn't tell me you had to have a...

Unearthing previously "lost" Sesame Street episodes

I was actually kind of afraid of this the moment I heard about it. I actually talked to someone at WGBH awhile back and that wasn’t the impression that I got. But even if what this woman said is true, remember there’s also the Library of Congress. I think that’s a bit more public than WGBH is.

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street YouTube marathon Friday November 15, 2019

You know, that is actually a very good way to put it. When I first heard that a new channel called Noggin was going to be showing old SS episodes, I didn't know exactly how many they would be showing. And I kind of got the impression that they would have access to the entire library, rather than...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street YouTube marathon Friday November 15, 2019

And if that’s the case, I will probably want to throw the TV out the ******* window. I am really looking forward to it and it’s quite a bit of time away. And it’s possible that Sesame Street may not be on there at all until November when season 51 begins. But either way, even if they don’t have...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street YouTube marathon Friday November 15, 2019

The video is no longer available. Though I really could care less because it was so disappointing (except for 2485 but somehow I’m sure that will be on HBO Max.) I don’t know why they advertised it as a 12-hour marathon when it was really just 4 hours. I really thought it was gonna be a lot more...

Your Thoughts: Sesame Street YouTube marathon Friday November 15, 2019

It’s possible they may end up just keep rerunning the same episodes throughout the day. I told you not to get your hopes up too high. I think the only thing to be grateful for is the (almost) full version of 2485. And now I’m guessing this is the way it’s gonna be on HBO Max.

Sesame Street to host 12-hour episode marathon on YouTube on Friday November 15, 2019

But what about the other question I asked: will it be available to watch after the stream ends?

Sesame Street to host 12-hour episode marathon on YouTube on Friday November 15, 2019

Are you sure it’s gonna be actual episodes? And more importantly, will it be available to watch on YouTube afterwards? Because I can’t possibly watch the whole thing live.

HBO Max to debut Sesame Street Seasons 51-55 and stream episodes from 50-year library

Okay, so maybe 90s episodes are considered classic now, but I can’t think of episodes from the 2000s as “classic.” Or any era with Elmo’s World for that matter. And it’s like as for more current episodes, why did they choose to only go as far back as season 41? I think they could have just as...
