Michigan Newbie Wanting to Learn to Puppet- Where to Start?

If you want the basic beginner stuff, you can find a lot of stuff on YouTube. The Jim Henson Company posted this and a few others on their channel.

    Robin the Frog Puppet

When I was making a few test heads for Kermit, I made one that was way too small. It came close to looking like Robin.

My extreme low budget puppet Cardboard Cylon Jr

Thanks. I've started on another cardboard puppet. He's going to be a Raider. He'll probably get a bit of a paint job to replicate the coloring of one. I've also started on the wings. I'm adding pieces to them so they have more of a 3D appearance. He'll need something to keep it from...

    Beaker attempt

He looks amazing. All he's missing is the expression of fear from being harmed in some experiment.

    Puppet arm question

I'm using neodymium (aka rare-earth) magnets in my Cylon puppet. I put some in the hand and on the body so I can use one control rod and not have the other flying around. They're extremely strong, in fact you have to be careful with some because you can get pinched by them if you have some too...

My extreme low budget puppet Cardboard Cylon Jr

This puppet was built as the son of a costume I once made as a joke costume for Dragon Con is Atlanta, GA. I retired the cardboard, but I liked the idea of giving people cardboard and duct tape robots. Something about the design appeals to me, plus I like to challenge myself with making...

    Making A Kermit

So I'm working on a Kermit replica. He isn't the first puppet I've built, but it is the first that is a Muppet and has a certain look to it. This is my current test head. I think I need to adjust the front of the face a bit. I think he's supposed to be a little more rounded there. I need to...

Does any one know how to do good removable arm rods for Kermit

Really strong magnets might work, like neodymium magnets. Just attach it to whatever you're making the hand out of and the arm rod should hold. I'm building a Kermit myself and I'm planning on using a combination of the crocodile clips and magnets. Plus you can put metal or other magnets inside...

    History of Adult Puppetry

Have you seen any of Tristan Newcomb's films? I don't know how big of a following he has, but I've been a fan for a few years. He uses store bought puppets, mainly ones made for Sunday Schools, but the dialogue is really the best element combined with the puppets delivering lines that would be...

Good grief - ANOTHER kermit build :-)

Great build. I'm actually starting on my own build. When your hand is in the head, should your fingers curve so you can make Kermit's facial expressions. I'm trying to figure out how big to make the mouthplate and have it fit in my hand.
