Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
Well, that's a little naive. Disney is, of course, doing it for the money and only the money. If Disney didn't think the Muppets could be profitable, they wouldn't have bought them. And the moment they think the Muppets aren't profitable anymore, Disney will have no problem stopping new projects.

The same probably holds true for The Christmas Toy / Secret Life of Toys. Disney would probably have wanted the special but not the series.
I'm at a little bit of a loss as to why Disney didn't want/get Emmett Otter. Maybe Henson really wanted to hold onto that one.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the music rights. When Henson paid for the rights to use the songs on the Muppet Show, they likely only payed for television/syndication rights. Oftentimes, additional royalties have to be paid for the rights to use the music on video/DVD.
As for the Sesame...
Ernie and Bert appear in one of the Season 1 episodes as well, but there should be no problem whatsoever for Disney to put any episodes with Sesame characters on DVD.
"Revelations" had a lot of promotion for a TV movie. "Muppets' Wizard of Oz," had more than a fair amount, but I wouldn't call it heavily promoted unless I saw non-televised marketing for it: posters on subways, busses, billboards, etc.
How manipulative of Jim Hill. This is what Variety had to say about Oz's ratings:

Look into the history of variety television in that decade, particularly Laugh-In, Carol Burnett, etc.
Also, if you're going with the nostalgia route, I'd look into the history of vaudeville.
