It's a sad day to be a Cincinnatian, and also a kid at heart because the man who had pretty much created childrens television had passed away. Uncle Al Lewis was actually supposed to be the art director, and the head of the TV station just put anybody on the air if they had something to put on to fill up the dead space. He first played a soda jerk on a show called Al's Corner Drugstore. He played his accordian, and since the set wasn't closed, anybody could have come up and be on. Kids heard the music and started dancing, and he actually invited them in, and then all the sudden they started calling him Uncle Al, and parents asked where they can get tickets, and a legend was born. For 35 years, Uncle Al and his wife Captain Windy entertained kids and became an institution. George Clooney was actually on the show as a young kid in 1970. But for those who have NO idea what I'm talking about, I would suggest either Google Uncle Al, or look him up on YouTube cause he's just a great great man. In leiu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to Childrens Hospital in his name.
RIP Uncle Al.

Daniel
