The new VH1 show "I Love The 70s" began tonight and had more than one Muppet reference, including some comments from Mr. The Frog himself, Kermit.

He first appears when they discuss "Sesame Street" which is during the first hour in 1970. Kermit popped up again in the second hour with a comment on "Wild Kingdom". He said that for a member of the wild kingdom, "Wild Kingdom" was like an adult film. He said his favorite was "Girls Gone Wild Kingdom".

I suppose Kermit will pop up more during the 10 episode series, which airs on VH1 from 9-11 ET all this week and will be rerun a million times after that.

The SS bit was great. It showed us a lot of 1970 clips we have never seen before, Like a Little Bird and Big Bird clip about the Letter A, and a clip of Bert in a blonde wig and Ernie in a farmer's uniform giving bert a peck on the cheek. :stick_out_tongue: :frown:

My mistake. The first episode (1970) is the one with the Kermit "Wild Kingdom" joke.

It'll be awesome once they get to 1976 when the Muppet Show premiered. I can't wait to hear what some of the other celebrities they've interviewed for the show will say about TMC.

I really like how Kermit seems edgier. When he said "Girls Gone Wild Kingdom" I had to laugh.

I wouldn't count on very freindly comments, especially on an "I Love" series (washed up stars criticizing nostalgia).

I might have to second that. I muted my TV when they got to Mr. Rogers in the show on '71, because of the comments. They weren't nasty, but they weren't exactly kind either.

Yeah, the SS bit wasn't too bad, a comment about Snuffy, the 'Gay' thing, And, can I call Lisa Marie Presley a bee-howtch here? I'm sure that's exceptional.

I saw 1972 yesterday and Kermit was pretty funny when they were talking about Kung-Fu and his imitation of the Godfather was funny as well.
