RIP Mattie Stepanek

I just heard tonight that Mattie Stepanek died. He was this really neat kid with muscular dystrophy who published several books of poetry and dedicated his life to the pursuit of peace. His hero was Jimmy Carter, and he got to meet him a few years ago. I saw him on GMA a few times and the MDA marathon, and I have the CD Billy Gilman put out with songs based on his poems. He was really sick throughout his whole life, but he always maintained such a positive attitude and had such faith in God and humanity. I guess I'm not that surprised to hear of his death since his health has always been so tenuous, but it's still very sad.
