Hi guys, what is the best wire to use for a poser puppet!?

Anyone know what was used in the master replicas muppets?? Needs to be strong enough to hold the weight of the poser, but malleable enough to twist together and pose with out snapping??

Tried 3mm aluminium rod but its just too hard!!

Thanks

Chris

Off the top of my head I'd suggest coathanger wire for the body and florist's wire for little, non-weight-bearing things like fingers.

I'd use caution with coat hanger wire, because I have doubts over how often you can bend it without it snapping. I just did a test and while I admittedly put it through a pretty extreme range of motion (a 90 degree bend to left taken all the way through to being a 90 degree bend to the right) it lasted less than 20 "repositions". You might be better off taking something like a florist's wire which is more designed to be repositioned, twisting 10 or 20 strands together to give it more strength, and using that.
