Hi, it's Garrett again. Just letting all you fans of The Storyteller know that recently I was watching all the old shows again, and suddenly got an insane urge to make, basically, my own episode of the series as a student film. I am shooting it on 16mm black and white film, and the final film will run 5 minutes long. The title is "The Journey of Truesong." We are in our third week of shooting. It will be completed and released in mid March.

I am doing the narration myself, in a somewhat lame impression of John Hurt. The story follows a young man who travels to **** and heaven in an effort to revive a lost true love.

Here's a little sneak peek into the editing as we are putting this together -- I took my camcorder into the editing lab and here's a quick glimpse of a travelling montage from early in the movie.

When my site is up, you can see some production stills here:

You can listen to a rough edit of my John Hurt impression narration here along with bad, jokey voices by our DP to cover all the other characters:

And click here to read the original draft of the script ... which has since been shortened and revised, but it's the same movie.

I couldn't quite see a lot of it, because my computer's too slow. Still, it does sound like a fun idea, Garrett. You're making me SO wish I was in film school right now.

The film is completed and screened .... I am immensely proud of it. The audience hooted, hollered and cheered ... it was a HUGE response. Big, big stuff. I don't have a copy posted online yet, but sometime this week surely.

It stands on its own as a film certainly. I actually rather wonder if Storyteller fans will see it as true to the series or something else entirely different, as the film did go in a very original direction. It's definitely full of my style, recognizable as a film of mine, definitely not a straight Storyteller copy. But diehard fans will love it, I think. I love it. I think it's a marvelous little film.

more news at ffrevolution.com ... which is down right now but will be back up once we've given our web provider a bit more money.

Here we are then, dearies. "The Journey of Truesong," my 5-minute, 16mm black and white film inspired by Jim Henson's "The Storyteller," is now online for you. Lemme know what you think.

I just tried to download it, but the computer says it will take 3 hours. And I have a cable modem! (It is on a network, though, so maybe that's the problem.) Maybe later traffic on the Net won't be so bad and I can get it. Remind me about this sometime.

Hey Garrett,

I'm on the studio computer, which is slow as heck, but once I get back to the DSL modem, I'll check it out. I've watched some of your other stuff and always gotten a chuckle out of them, so I'm curious to see how this one goes.
