Enjoy this series of fan fics celebrating the 45th anniversary of Sesame Street. It's primarily outlines for a ficticional television series celebrating the 45th anniversary of Sesame Street, in 45 episodes. Each episode will be posted in this thread, and I plan to do a few per day (some days will have longer gaps between episodes). Can I do it all (probably)? We'll see!

Episode 1: The First Season

Scene 1:
Murray welcomes the viewers to "Murray's Sesame Street 45th Anniversary Show", and announces that today he's celebrating the first season of Sesame Street. He decides to open with the first scene...
Segments:
  • Sesame Street Begins (ending after Big Bird's introduction)

Scene 2:
Murray is weirded out by how different the street and especially Big Bird looked back then. Big Bird then enters (tripping over things) and tells Murray that the street and its residents have changed so much over the years (and yet he's still only six years old). Big Bird then asks Murray if he knew that Oscar used to be orange.

Scene 3:
Murray is now surprised to see that not only was Oscar orange, but Grover used to be green. But Big Bird points out that Cookie Monster always liked cookies back then.

Episode 2: Bert and Ernie

Scene 1:
Murray introduces the show and reveals that today's episode is about Bert and Ernie. Bert and Ernie then come in, and Ernie "corrects" Murray that it's Ernie and Bert, as Bert disagrees and they argue. Murray points out that they have their disagreements but are still friends.

Scene 2:
Murray notes that Bert seems to like a lot of things, and Ernie thinks this is a good time for Bert to show all that off... He sends Bert off-screen, and when Bert re-enters, he's struggling to carry his paper clips, bottle caps, bowl of oatmeal, and a pigeon.

Scene 3:
Murray looks around and wonders where Ernie is. Bert tells him it's time for Ernie's bath.

Bert says that they spend a lot of time together, but also enjoy spending time apart.

Ernie reminds Bert of how he recently taught him to ride a bike without training wheels.

Scene 7:

As Murray signs off, Bert and Ernie once again argue over whether it's "Bert and Ernie" or "Ernie and Bert".

Episode 3: Numbers

Scene 1:
Murray announces that today's show is all about numbers, and now it's time for our opening number.... 1!

Scene 2:
As the Two-Headed Monster enjoys the show, Murray counts their two heads.

  • Telly and Baby Bear sing "I've Got Two" (from season 30, can't remember which episode... Not sure if its noted on Muppet Wiki)

Scene 3:
Murray asks if you can guess what the next number is.

Scene 4:
Murray is having trouble remembering what number comes next... But maybe The Count knows.

The Count shows up to count how far we've gotten so far, so Murray and The Count count to four.... and then The Count goes to five.

Scene 6:
Murray and Ovejita look through Murray's collection of the numbers 1-6 as Ovejita provides the spanish words for each number.

Murray announces that for the numbers 7 and 8, we have a couple of special kings.

Scene 8:
And now The Count will sing about the number 9...

Scene 9:
And now Murray wants to count to a higher number.

Scene 10:
The Count points out that now we're in the double-digits, and counts the two digits on the number ten... and two digits on the number 11...

Scene 11:
It's now 12 o'clock, so it's time for Murray to watch something on channel 12.

Scene 12:
  • Murray is ready to once again count all of the numbers we've already counted to, but the Count joins in and goes a lot higher than 12. Murray replies that he should be so lucky.

    Murray points out that that last one was about the number 21, not 20. The Count says he wanted to go higher.... and now wants to skip several numbers.

    Scene 15:
    As The Count counts (the scene starts with him past 4000) Murray signs off. The Count stops counting long enough to say he's excited to get to episode 4, and can't wait until the 45th episode.

Episode 4: The Alphabet

Scene 1:
Murray says that today's show is all about the alphabet.

Segments:
  • Ernie writes a story
  • Kermit and Joey say the alphabet
  • ABC-DEF-GHI (1980s version, introduction cut)
  • Grover and Polly sing the alphabet
Scene 2:
Several letters show up and growl at Murray... He thinks the alphabet has a jungle.

Scene 3:
Murray decides to try to say the alphabet backwards (while accidentally facing backwards at first). After turning around, he tries, but fails when he says V before W. He decides to watch some more of the alphabet and see if he can get it.

Scene 4:
Murray tries to recite the alphabet backwards again, but still fails (he says M before N). All this trying to say the alphabet backwards is making him hungry.

The alphabet chart gives Murray a great idea. He'll look at a chart of the alphabet and read it backwards first. After doing so, he looks away and successfully says the alphabet backwards. But now he wants to go forwards again.

Episode 5: The Letters A-H

Scene 1:
Murray points out that last time we learned the whole alphabet, now let's look at a few letters at a time. He then says that the first letter of the alphabet is also the first letter in the word "alphabet", A.

Episode 6: The Letters I-T

Scene 1:
Murray welcomes us back. "I think that out next letter is... Uh, I think... I think... I think I should just watch the next letter, I."

Scene 2:
Murray has an I, but the bottom has gotten rubbery... and is transformed into a J.

Murray draws the next letter, the letter K, and decides to show us how he learned to draw the letter K.

Scene 4:
Murray looks at a chart of the alphabet and notices that the L is missing. Where could the L be? Could it be out for lunch?

Murray had a nice L lunch, but now wants an M meal...

Scene 6:
Cookie Monster eats part of a letter M. Murray is upset, but then notices that it now looks like an N.

"Ohhhh...", cries Murray, "I can't find the next letter... The letter O... Ohhhh..."

Murray found the O, but has found that the letter P has been banished from the alphabet.

    Scene 11:
    Murray notes that S is the first letter in Sesame Street... In fact it's the first letter in both "Sesame" and "Street", and also snake.

    Murray is thirsty and wants some tea. Waiter Grover brings him a letter T in a tea cup.

Episode 7: The Letters U-Z

Scene 1:
Murray is happy to see us all back, he's got more of the alphabet to show "u".

Segments:

Scene 2:
Murray makes a balloon shaped like U into a balloon shaped like a V.

Scene 3:
Murray puts two Vs together and makes a W.

  • Larry King interviews the letter W

Scene 4:
Oscar asks Murray to think up some words that start with the letter X, but Murray struggles. Oscar takes delight in this... Until Murray comes up with words that end with X, and then realizes that he can find X words in the dictionary.

Scene 5:

  • Murray asks Prairie Dawn if she can tell him what the next letter is, but he mistakes her "Y" answer as "why?"

I was planning on just posting a few a day... So far I've done seven. So much for that (though I probably won't be able to post many tomorrow).

Episode 8: The Environment

Scene 1:
Oscar welcomes us and informs us that this episode will be all about trash. Murray corrects him, saying that while trash is involved, this show is about learning to take care of the environment. Oscar is frustrated (he had gotten his hopes up about a trashy episode).

Episode 9: Herry Monster and Prairie Dawn

Scene 1:
Murray announces that this episode will focus on two different characters, Herry Monster and Prairie Dawn. He notes that Herry and Prairie sound similar. Herry asks Prairie if she remembers the time he and Merry told her that they sounded similar.

Segments:
  • Herry and Merry tell Prairie that they sound similar

Scene 2:
Prairie points out that Herry has sometimes appeared in her pageants.

Scene 3:
Herry and Prairie mention that they both like to sing.

Episode 10: Spoofs

Scene 1:
Murray announces that today's episode is about spoofs, though he doesn't know what a "spoof" is.

Segments:

Scene 2:
Murray asks Ovejita if she can explain to him what a parody is... But for once Murray is unable to understand her spanish.

Scene 3:
Murray is still unsure what a "spoof" is, but tells us to enjoy the following...

Murray decides to look up "spoof" in the dictionary, only to find Cookie Monster eating the dictionary. But Murray doesn't have time to be angry - it's time to go to Numeric Con!

Scene 5:
Murray asks Ernie if he can tell him what a spoof is. Ernie tells Murray that a spoof is a parody, and then leaves. Murray is relieved, until he realizes that he doesn't know what a parody is.

Scene 6:
Murray is sad that he still doesn't know what a spoof is, when Oscar bluntly tells him that a spoof is when somebody makes fun of something. Murray is satysfied... Then outraged that people would make fun of things.

Scene 7:
Murray wonders how people can be so mean as to make fun of things. Prairie Dawn explains that when one makes fun of a work as a "spoof", it's not always to be mean... Many spoofs are just being similar to things we're familiar with and making them funnier. Murray understands and feels better, and feels like hearing Polly Darton sing about funny things.

Murray ends the show.
