Thanks guys I will do my best. I'll make some sketches and post photos of them here and see what y'all think. Like I said I don't know I'll get to them this weekend but Monday definitely!

I would like to incorporate Kermit somehow into the logo is that ok with you guys?
  3. panmanthe2nd Active Member

I like the idea. My only worry would be that Kermit's copyright belongs to Disney, and they might not like you using him.
  4. Pinkflower7783 Well-Known Member

I thought of that but I feel like somehow a character should be incorporated into the logo...I can't use just his collar because that's Disney owned as well. I can't really use sesame street either as their copyright as well. -_-

I have a feeling because of copyright my skills are gonna be limited. :S

Later on we might get Disney's permission, but I feel we need a logo now.

What about Jim himself? A drawing, or a public-domain image of him (if there are any)?
  7. Pinkflower7783 Well-Known Member

Im trying to do a logo but I feel it's gonna be so plain with just letters...but I guess I'll have to go with that for now. Which kinda sucks cause I had good ideas but I don't want lawsuits thrown at us. :p
  8. Pinkflower7783 Well-Known Member

I'll do the letters in green though. Disney doesn't own that right? Lol! I could always draw big lilypad and have the name on top.
  9. panmanthe2nd Active Member

I agree that just letters would be a bit plain. I don't think there would be any lawsuits (although it is possible), but we might have to stop using it, if it did have a Muppet character in it.

Yes, a banjo sounds cool. We could use a simple 'Anything Muppet', or maybe even a Snerf, as I don't think Disney would mind that at all.

I'll probably do the name in big block letters and then just maybe draw things around it that make it when you see it you know it's a Jim Henson convention. Like I could draw a banjo, lilypad, even a rainbow would work.

Okay great!!! I'll try and get to some of it today. Unless someone else has better ideas I'll definitely welcome them!

Sound awesome. I can't stop to think now, but we could probably come up with a few other generic images that aren't specifically Kermit-related to try to work in the other Henson projects. Take your time and don't stress over it. We don't need it this very instant.

Maybe a rubber duck or a cookie for Sesame Street?

Very true. Take all the time you need, and thank you Pinky for doing this!

Hey guys, I know I'm kinda not here a lot, but I don't really have time to type to be back here so often. I'm still in.
    (Are we sending Borples letter?)

Pinky, Can't wait to see the logo!
If you mean the Green Kermit collared "M", then I think Disney does own that, but I don't think'll be a lawsuit if you use it.

We also need to write a letter to Sesame Workshop, Henson (Which should be easy), and Disney.

Does it have to be a video chat?
Are we using it to get together and discuss the convention?
  17. panmanthe2nd Active Member

I believe it would be a writing chat-room.

    Yes, that's the plan.
  18. panmanthe2nd Active Member

Yes, as soon as we work out what address to send it to!

Perfect! Let's do it! Shall we make a time and we'll meet there then?

As far as the Logo is concerned I think you should do one without Muppet characters, but maybe also one with (Maybe a character from each of the big three...Muppets seasme street and Fraggles) we can always hold onto it for later to use, but also at this point it would just be fan art and to my knowledge Disney does not crack down on that... also I think we should make sure that this convention is non profit..any profit we make goes back into the con (I think Bills are more likely than profit anyways) this will make it more likely for us to get permission if that is clear upfront. I really can't see Disney getting too upset unless we are turning a huge profit off of their material...and who knows in the long run they might see how they could use this for their own marketing needs (I know a little far sighted)Anywas Pinky draw away...any and all artwork might be able to be used in any format...at as far as the name go with HensonCon.....I was joking about the Hencon thing in the begining (though it would be in the Muppet spirit if we held this, called it Hencon, and a bunch of poultry farmers showed up)...as far as the website goes right now it is nothing...as this progresses we can add things to it as members of the team see fit...eventually we may even be able to buy a domain rather than host on a free service.
